Denial Continues to Weigh on You
Added 2021-11-21 01:00:03 +0000 UTCToday marks the 5th anniversary of Denial Can Weigh on You! It's crazy to think half a decade has gone by since this piece released. It was my first sequence, the first introduction of Chloe (although at the time she was unnamed, and wasn't planned to be a fleshed-out OC but just a random design used for this sequence only) and the first piece that I feel really started putting me on people's radars. It quickly became my most popular piece on DeviantArt and has continued to hold that title, now sitting at nearly 9k favorites on that site.
This piece is ridiculously important to me, and coming back to it was a massive joy. It showed me that even a piece as impactful as this can be heavily improved upon (at least in my opinion).
Thanks to everyone who's been on this journey with me, whether you've been around this full five years or have started following my work more recently. Doing this redo has made me really appreciate the growth I've gone through since the original picture was released, and made me realize how crazy it is that Chloe is now an actual character that I've written stories about and not just a design XD

That said, the remake is too scattered, and tries too hard to introduce a wide variety of perspectives, for me to think of it as equal in quality to the original. I understand that an enormous amount of work went into the remake, and I apologize in advance, knowing very well that my take may upset you. But there's something to be said for the way that the original places the same character in the same perspective, so that the audience can decide for themselves how much the character has grown.
