Where on Earth is Dreaming Door?

One could be forgiven for wondering what we have been up to for the last month here at Dreaming Door Studios. It is unusual for us to keep our silence this long.

In truth, great matters have been transpiring, and we are waiting for something specific before we explain. In the meantime, please keep us in your thoughts as we attempt to build a new lair in the heart of the desert.

As a small token of apology, please accept this beautiful new rendering of one of Act One's most popular characters, Valhalla Badger, in stained glass. It is the first attempt at the new medium by the very talented Nawaf Al-Tumayhi. Perhaps a cathedral on Newhome will one day host this colored window recounting a meeting between the Last Starfallen and a Lumberkin warrior of renown among its people on a faraway world.

Blessings of wisdom,

For me, that depends greatly on the action which the Spiritkeeper took here. In some timelines, it was not strong or brave enough to take up the warrior's challenge, and the old Lumberkin was not allowed the glorious final battle which its heart so desired. That is a sad tale, one which the Spiritkeeper may have regretted for many years after. In others, the Spiritkeeper took up the challenge and killed it in a wonderful, bloody fight, granting the Lumberkin champion's last desire and a place among the stars for its spirit. In such endings to the story, I find only wonder and gratitude, and admiration for a bold warrior which walked the Path of Fire all the way to its painful yet courageous end. But perhaps your feelings differ. Some feel sadness at death, even if that death is wonderful and noble. Death is the end of a story, and to me, that ending can be happy or sad, depending on whether the being in question was able to complete their quest, and finish life in a fashion worthy of the way it was lived.

It's beautiful and sad art.

From Act 1, I would say so. Perhaps not in the game overall, but there was lots of love for Valhalla Badger back when the game was only the demo.

Just the other day I was wonderen whether the silence might be because there's something bigger hapening behind the scenes, seems I had the right feeling. Whatever that "something specific" is, I wish you good luck with it!

Yuka

Huh, I wouldn't have thought that the badger is one of the most popular characters

Loviare

At least one of those assumptions is correct.

The implication of "Last Starfallen" is that the Keeper of the Spiritwood is thriving on Newhome, in continued harmony with the Spirit of the Green. And apparently was the last one to emerge from its starcraft. Interesting....
