Hierophant Release Date Set for June, 2052

Dreaming Door Studios is pleased to announce the release of their upcoming extraterrestrial dragon rulership simulator, Hierophant. Currently planned for release on PC, Playstation 17, and the Nintendo Bloom, the Nipponese megacorporation's first botanically-powered, petal-controlled system, players will be able to vie for the title of Hierophant, spiritual guide to an entire planet of sentient beings, on June 19, 2052.

"We've had some special challenges, including a key artist for the title not having been born yet," said Ludwig, writer and director of the game. "But we're excited for the imminent release, and hope that our fans are as well."
"Making an independent game for a full release is a huge undertaking, and many don't realize how much effort is required," said Bryce Evans, Senior Programmer on the project. "Ludwig's insistence that we paint the entire codebase beforehand using musical notes and Book of Kells-style acrylic illustrations was, at first, not popular with the younger software engineers, but now we can't imagine doing it any other way, and it will have a subtle but important effect on the final product about 30 years down the road."
"Considering the fact that we're only communicating semi-yearly via intercontinental carrier pigeon to Italy, working on only one phrase at a time, the progress has really outstripped my expectations," said Jim Gabriel, music composer for the spiritual sci-fi epic. "The news that I might still actually be alive at the time of release took me by surprise, and I'm very happy about it. Sharing it with my great-grandchildren on the day of release will be a true joy."

Ludwig assures fans that his entry into the Sunnyvale Acres Senior Retirement Home, planned for earlier that year, will not delay the release. The game will retail for only #750,000 nuyuen ($29.99 USD 2024 rate), much lower than the industry average for the time. "It's the least we can do for our loyal fans, many of whom have passed on their Patreon memberships to next of kin," said Ludwig. "And they will be pleased to know that we've got the 'pets who died during the project' part of the closing credits down to less than 500 pages."

Not my dyslexic self reading that as '2025' and completely missing the joke lol; I didn't even register this as an April Fool's post!

(For the record, now that it's a few days later, this was an April Fool's post. We do not plan to release Hierophant in 2052. In America, it is customary to do a bit of teasing on April 1.)

The clue that dragons are behind this is that development period is in decades

Great news! I'd love to start playing as soon as it is released, but unfortunately I already have a dentist appointment scheduled that day...

Half-Life 3 will be released the week before. I hope it doesn't overshadow Hierophant. There's little hope for a delay; those people always get their sequels out on time.

I’m looking forward to it! Too bad Silksong still doesn’t have a release date. There are rumors that it’ll release in 2098, but I doubt it.
