CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Draak-Kin 1

One of our favorite parts of making a Golden Treasure game is designing dragons, not just their external appearance, but also their personalities, spiritual outlooks, life experiences, and more!

Twenty-seven Draak-Kin participated in the exodus from Earth to Newhome. Darktooth, its leader, was one, of course, as was the protagonist of the Great Green, sometimes called the Spiritkeeper. The dragons who made that impossible journey across space are known on Newhome as the Starfallen.

Who were the other Starfallen? Well, we have plans for several of them, but a few we have not yet met. Perhaps you would care to introduce us... maybe they'll have a role to play in the events unfolding on Newhome. Perhaps they could even become a Hierophant!

We would like to invite you, our upper-tier members, to submit a character concept for a Draak who was born on Earth but decided to join the Exodus. Your submission may take any form you like... feel free to submit a sketch, short story, or whatever... but here's an example of a brief written-style submission:

Starfallen Submission

"I AM THE ONE WHO STANDS AT THE BOUNDARY.

I AM THE SEPARATOR OF LIFE AND DEATH, BLADE OF THE LAST JUSTICE.

I WATCH THE FALLING STARS SLICE THE VOID AND THE SKYLIGHT DANCE IN THE DEEP WINTER NIGHT."

Name: Edge

Clan: Onyx

Territory: 55S, 67W (modern Tierra del Fuego)

Sired by a young yet mighty Ruby warrior and birthed by an Onyx in its final century of life, the Kin who came to be known as Edge had a difficult early life. Born blind in one eye and part of a large clutch (by Draak-Kin standards), it lost challenge after challenge to its siblings until it had only a few icy floes north of Antarctica to call its own.

Feeding mostly on king penguins and squid, it struggled to survive until one clear night it discovered its mother dying on a nearby shore. In a final conversation, she told it that despite it being her time to die, that her Essence would live on in the light of the stars. "WHEN THE FIRST LIGHT PIERCED THE VOID, TIME BEGAN, AND GAVE BIRTH TO SUN AND ITS MANY SIBLINGS. THE LIGHT OF THE SUN THEN SHINES ON EARTH AND BECOMES LIFE. WE ARE ALL OF US THE LIGHT ETERNAL, NEVER ENDING." She then slipped into the dark waters, giving her body to the sea. Just after she disappeared and the waters stilled, the southern lights lit the sky.

This kindled a flame in the young Kin's soul, and it vowed to become strong. A penguin shaman instructed it and taught it the mysteries of the cold lands and the purity of wild life there; upon hearing the story of its mother's demise, it told Edge that the lights were the dancing spirits of the great warriors of Earth, and that its mother was now among them. It was, the shaman believed, Edge's destiny to dance among the stars, but it must first prove itself worthy.

Through perseverance and force of will, Edge hunted larger and larger prey (though it never hunted any more king penguins, as thanks for the shaman's guidance). Injured several times, it nearly gave up again, but a shower of falling meteors reminded it of its great destiny, and it rallied to defeat one of its stronger siblings and claim its territory. In time, it became the master of its mother's old territory, modern-day Tierra del Fuego National Park.

After 150 years, it began to feel the Sleepless Curse of the Onyx Kin, and it started to fall into despair once again. When it learned that Darktooth the Wise was leading an exodus from Earth into the stars, its mind was flooded with images of the southern lights and the falling stars. Rather than die to become one with them, he could actually become one while still alive by braving the void. This gave him renewed purpose, and he joined with Darktooth, becoming the seventeenth of the twenty-seven Starfallen.
