This episode cuts deep. Wow. The feeling of feeling unimportant to a "friend" felt like the world ending for me, so I sympathise with Moondancer. I like the contrast with Minuet, Twinkleshine, and Lemonheart. They weren't too bothered with Twilight abandoning them when it meant the world to Moondancer. But what they said about not asking her to hang out as she kept refusing is so deep. Because as much as Moondancer was hurt, since she stopped showing up, they stopped showing up too. And to be fair, her own expectations of/validation she wanted from Twilight to be open with others only hurt herself in the end and is her doing. Yes, Twilight was a trash friend, but it was her own choice to use that as an excuse to not care about her other friends/potential news ones. (Still doesn't make it not suck). Great episode.

I'm sorry. I never noticed this before this viewing. And I've seen the show upwards of 20 times. Near the end you can see Spike playing pin the tail on the pony. He pins it slightly in the wrong spot and it covers part of Celestia's cutie mark. This is most likely a reference to the animation error in season one where they put her tail in the wrong spot and it was on her rump. Just thought that was funny.

I'M SOOOO SORRRYYY! One more thing! Pause this episode at about 14:21 look at one of the top left seats. Tell me who you see!

One more thing. The a first edition of *Principles of Magic* would have been destroyed with the Golden Oak Library if Twilight took it with her. So...be happy Moon Dancer.

ALSO, TABITHA ST. GERMAINE VOICED TWINKLESHINE!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I recognized her voice! She had a similar voice for Minty in A Very Minty Christmas back in Gen 3!

To my knowledge this was the first time the show gave those background ponies names out loud. Minuet, Twinkleshine, and Lemonhearts. At least, this episode was how I stopped calling Minuet Colgate! HAHA! We always knew Moondancer's name from the first episode, but this is when we get to see her. Lyra Heartstrings we saw in *Slice of Life* along with Bon Bon (aka Special Agent Sweetydrops) I love the background ponies. I love whenever the showwriters were able to add them to the story, and allow them to have speaking lines.

I WAS TWILIGHT!!!!!!! Minus the studying. My studying was other problems. I.E. Depression, anxiety, and my parents basically pushing me out of the house.

OK, I TOTALLY get Twilight in this episode. I had friends a few years back that I just stopped texting and getting together with solely because I was depressed and didn't see the point of friends. I still haven't done what Twilight did in this episode. I haven't made amends. Or rekindled the friendships. This episode hits me!

This episode sure hits different Especially the callback to episode one Makes you wonder if they kinda planned it

One of my favorite details in this episode is that Moon Dancer is a recolor of Twilight. The hair is styled differently, but the way she's colored and the body and face are identical. Moon Dancer is a mirror for what Twilight could have been had she not been pushed by Celestia to make friends. Had she focused exclusively on magic and perfection. As far as Twi's issue with names - That's actually one I understand. I have trouble with names, and thinking back to my youth and college and school, there were a lot of people I considered friends, I hung out with a lot but I can't remember their names for the life of me now. I intimately remember their faces, what they looked like, what their voices sounded like. But I'd certainly need a reminder for their names.

I didn't used to think much of this episode, but on rewatch it might just be my FAVORITE Twilight episode in the show. They were able to simultaneously show just how much Twilight has grown as a character and into her roll, while ALSO regarding her past mistakes and showing the consequences of her past actions. It's an episode that highlights Twilights growth as a character SO perfectly, and even paints a scary image of what Twilights future may have looked like had she not gone to ponyville for that assignment. Moondancer is a Twilight recolor for a reason; she's the symbolic other half of twilights decisions. It's honestly just an awesome episode all around.

Indeed a masterful and treasured episode that spoke to me alot. At the time of its release (which coincidentally was during a church convention), I was going through some stuff: some personal difficulties with reaching out to an old friend; fear of communicating with my brother on an issue; and being full of inner musings on how my mind ticks, why I had trouble with all that, and why I couldn't get past it (and really, still can't), in spite of all my tears and prayers... 😰 And then this ep came hitting hard with a poignant object lesson, like it was pointing at Twilight and saying to me "Here, this is what you need to do [to start getting past this]!", and then at Moondancer and saying "This is what might happen if you don't, if you shut yourself in instead of opening up". . . . Indeed a masterful and treasured episode that spoke to me alot, and yet I still haven't really resolved these issues of mine and they're currently taking a backseat to other, more important ones...

It might seem a little weird that Twilight wants to visit her "friends" whose names she can't even remember. But I get it. When I was in school, I too used to be the quiet kid that was always in the corner reading a book instead of playing with the others. Nonetheless there were classmates who would talk with me, do group projects with me or even visit me at my home to play some board-games. At the time I never considered them to be my "friends" but more like "the people that were kind enough to invite me and let me join in when they were hanging out together." For example I thought the only reason why they came to visit me at home, was because I had the most board-games. And even tho I might never have felt like I am an actual member of their friend-group, this episode showed me that they probably have seen me as a friend all along, but just the "introvert one that sometimes wants his alone-time while reading a book". Also something I only released when I re-watched the show: That flashback when they invited her to Moondancers Party, is actually from the first episode of the show.
