2 Talks & A Game: The 8-Week Plan

Hi all!  Quick end-of-month update, to keep y'all in the loop about what's to come.

The Tentative And Probably Too Hopeful 8-Week Plan:

Mar 4-10: Preparing & giving a free talk at the NYU Games Center! If you'd like to see me blabber about cognitive science, learning, and games, here's the RSVP link. (Don't worry, it'll be recorded too)

Mar 11-17: Finish Act 1 (of 4) for my upcoming game about anxiety. IF we're lucky, I might be able to upload a playable demo! I've already done the core game engine + writing, all's left is some art.

Mar 18-24: I'll be at the Game Developer's Conference in San Francisco!  I'm giving a microtalk Wednesday evening.  (the GIF above is from my slides)  The conference may put the recording behind paywall, but I'll just post my own recording online, for you!  (Also, some of you replied that you're also going to GDC – I'll get in touch soon to figure out how to meet up, thank you! :D)

Mar 25-31: If I don't have Con Crud, finish Act 2 (of 4) for my anxiety game

Apr 1-7: Finish Act 3 (of 4)

Apr 8-14: Finish Act 4 (of 4)

Apr 15-21: Playtests & polish

Apr 22-28: RELEASE THE ANXIETY GAME (free, open-source & web-based, as usual)

So that's the plan: two talks & a game! And maybe a playable demo in-between.

Thank you again for helping me create these things!  I hope the talks might be useful to you (especially if you also make games/educational material) and I also hope the anxiety game might be valuable to a lot of you too.

One last thing: my mental health has gotten noticeably better in February.  I think it's because my new habit this month was "ping a different friend each day".  Since I work independently, it's very easy for me to go a whole day without talking to anybody.  Very easy to let my friendships slip away until I'm lying on my deathbed thinking "where'd they all go?"  So yeah, moral of the story, make sure you get your daily dose of that universal psychological need for human connection.  Or you get psychological goiters.
