New Logo Feedback?

So this is a little thing I've had Chris (the artist responsible for these beauties) working on in the background, and I gotta say I'm quite pleased with the final turnout. The old logo was giving me a lot of trouble spatially. Overall, this should just be a lot easier for me to use, and a lot easier to read.
Here's the old one:
The main issued were about spacing and centering.
The gear filled up so much extra space, the lettermark was so squished into the feather that it was pretty much unreadabl, and the way the feather extended past the top and bottom of the gear gave it this weird additional vertical dimension that I wasn't super keen on.
The new logo is a lot more centered, the lettermark gets a lot more attention, and in addition to all of that, we've managed to work a book into the design, which just seems incredibly appropriate.
My question is, how do you feel about the new logo? Is there anything you would change?
I'm just looking for final suggestions before we finalize the design and I start putting it in the branding and videos.
