Early days, obviously, but...

Yes, I have jumped on the bandwagon and am learning to use Blender.

Although, yes, technically I could use it to sculpt miniatures and do plan to learn how to do this at least for my own personal entertainment, it's value to game design is rather less arty. My hope is, first, to be able to begin producing quality 3D illustration of table layouts and rules to provide better-looking and more helpful illustrations in rulebooks. And, second, it is to begin adding animations based on those illustrations to the tutorials for YouTube.

Whilst I'm unlikely to be able to commit the time - or indeed, possess the talent - to create my own "proper" minis, there's not reason I can't have a stab at creating simple stuff... like Ballmonsters!

My HR work is currently a bit slow (my day rate is exactly the same whether they give me enough work to fill it or not!), so I've been spending an hour or two a day for the last couple of weeks to start learning the basics. My immediate objective is to be able to take the terrific designs that Adam at Desert Island Designs made for me and to create simple animations for them to support a Kickstarter to get them to market. I'll tell you guys more about that when it's closer to hand. Nothing very ambitious. Mainly just a desire to raise enough money to pay Adam what I sorta kinda owe him and get experience of what it's like to run a Kickstarter and what it takes to make it a success.
