Ballmonsters! Beta 0.1 - And a chance to join in the playtesting!

Phew!

OK, folks. The Ballmonsters! beta is here... again.

Previous attempts at making this work as a game have been a failure, but I've been learning as I've gone and trying to get a better grasp of what I want - learning to clearly articulate my foundational goals - has been incredibly helpful in getting to this place for this version of the game.

To get beyond this point, I'm going to need your help.

The attached game meets my criteria for a silly, short game in which tribes attempt to feed an unwilling meal to their lumbering megaballs. There's a lot of room to add more bells and whistles (see my latest GDT video for what I mean by that), but my first objective is to keep this game firmly within the grasp of younger players, from about the age of 8.

Consequently, it is very random, with plenty of decision-making but very little room to "get better" at the game.

What I need from playtesters is, firstly, an idea of whether the game as-is remains entertaining for adults and older children. I've played so many games of this that I'm cross-eyed and entirely without objective opinion.

Now, you can easily play it with low-denomination coins or existing minis without needing the balls (that, too, is part of the game's foundational goals). But if you'd like to get some balls, I'm offering two free teams of five basic balls each to the first four patrons to DM me and ask for them (Ben Rose, yours are already on their way!). You'll just pay postage at standard rate (Hermes in the UK and Royal Mail for everyone else).

For anyone else, I am offering a free team of five balls in return for any constructive feedback OR, if you already have balls, one large ball, two little balls and one other weird ball of your choice (stock allowing).

I will add an extra ball for any patron who tags @precinctomega and #ballmonsters in a social media picture of any suitably spherical painted wargaming miniature from Precinct Omega, Krakon Games or any other manufacturer (yes, even GW squigs).
