A new game series from scratch?

The Horizon Wars range of miniatures games have, of course, not had to be written from scratch since I've been using the mechanics from the original game as starting points for each new design. This has been a tremendous boon for me, but not necessarily helpful for people wanting to write their own games and not sure where to start.

I've been pondering doing a video series for YouTube on how to get started in miniatures game design. And I've been having a few private conversations with folks about how to develop their own ideas. And, of course, I've had a lot of people asking me when Precinct Omega is going to turn its particular brand of design philosophy to a fantasy setting.

So I'm thinking of combining all of these into a single series in which I start from nothing and end up with a fully-written, illustrated, high-production miniatures wargame series that does for fantasy what Horizon Wars does for sci-fi.

And, yes, I do mean "series": a fantasy setting in a trilogy of games: a skirmish game, a battle game... and another one. The fact that I have no idea what the third one might end up being is part of the process.

This will not be a quick process, by any means, but I'm thinking that patrons might well get a *lot* of advance content on this - like, being three months ahead of publicly-available content when it comes to videos and downloads. I'm also thinking of tying the release schedule to a range of social media goals - like, a new episode at 500, 600, 750,1000, 1500, 2500 subscribers etc, and bonus content, such as painted minis and/or art concepts, for Instagram followers. Patreon support would then tie into some of the content.

Yes, I'm proposing to gamify the development of a game.

Is this something you think you'd all be interested in?
