The plague - Infected peasant

Hey guys! I appreciate all your feedback from the last post. I've read all your comments and taken note of everything you said.

I've decided that I will do both kind of miniatures. I'll do them supported free whenever it doesn't compromise the final result of the model avoiding so making them bland and tasteless.

This infected peasant I think that makes for an example of what kind of supported free miniatures I want to go for.

I wanted to make it with a dynamic pose. So how do I make a miniature that feels like moving without lifting his leg on thin air or it being goofy looking standing on the ground?

I decided to put a torso under the lifted leg that acomplish two different objetives, supports the dynamic pose and also adds some character to the model and world. I also added some footprints behind him in order to help imagine the route that this peasant went.

Now, how do I make the right hand stand on his waist making some sense? I was looking out for some references, trying to find anything that would give me an idea. Then I saw this friendly peasant chilling with his piggy under his arm. I saw a good oportunity for this one carrying one. It makes sense for peasants that when panicking they would try to carry something valuable with them.

As for future miniatures that requires supports you can count on me doing them pre-supported as always. For example, there's no way I can make good appealing wings ir teeth them being supported free (or at least without lifting some eyebrows).

There's a lot of miniature that I will have to do no matter what the traditional way. When I've the chance to make them supported free without sacrificing pose, shape and character, I will do them so, just for the challange. But when any of these things became compromise I'll definetly make them non-support free and pre-supported. The middle ground seems the better idea.

What have Hannah Montana and a necromancer have in common? They get the best of both worlds, let's do that.

Also, archmage items will remain pre-supported, for most of them there's no fricking way I can make them supported free.

Thank you for your feedback and support guys! I'll love to know what you think.

Gnolls are actually one of my favorite sets that I've done. I appreciate you liked them! I'll have this things in mind for the sea encounters theme. The kraken will be a pre-supported model. It will come in multiple pieces due to it's size. I'm far from finishing it but I'm excited to show you the final result. I'm striving to make it my new favorite miniature that I've done so far.

Glad that you decided to not totally give up creating “free form“ minis! The face sculpts on the gnolls (my favorite models) are so impressive looking, and the dangling dynamic parts like the open mouths, pointy teeth, hanging tongues, and angled snouts allow them to present so much more expression and emotion than a more restrictive design. Similar to teeth and dangling tentacles on the pumpkin and present mimics, it really allows for a more explosive, natural looking, and eye-catching character. I'm continuing to look forward to each new release!

great work !!

No problem! In that case I can also add the models separated from the bases.

My only real issue with support-free minis is that I prefer my minis to be 'base agnostic' as I like to add them all the high gloss black acrylic bases that I use for conformity. Will the supportfree models be baseless as an option?

Ahaha I love the pig

I like the concept of support free miniatures. I mean I appreciate both of course, and some things need supports, but I look forward to trying this .
