[Tutorial] How to place lights

Hey guys, thank you for being patient regarding the missing monday post, you're so understanding I have no words 🥺

Today I want to share a very much awaited tutorial, or more like a guide. I know you guys have asked for this a long time ago, but I have been in the thinking box on how to tackle the tutorial, and in the end I ended up with creating a simple guide.

This is however I use to add lights to an object, I can't say it's 100% correct, but at least it's something you can go after when you practice with lights in your artwork.

When adding lights like these I like to experiment with layer modes and layer adjustments. For photoshop I add a brightness layer adjustment, turn the brightness up to max, color the layer mask black and then go over with white on the areas I want to add lights. Screenshots underneath of how I do it.

I check the "clipping mask" box

Turn the brightness up to max

Fill it all in with black in the layer mask

Draw white on the layer mask where I want the lights to be and then duplicate the adjustment layer until I'm satisfied with the intensity of the light. I'm sure there are many ways to do this but this is my go to.

A more in depth tutorial, and also a speed paint/video tutorial can be posted if that's of any interest, but for now I hope the guide will help. I have included the guide in the attachments if you want to save for later!

Hugs from
