I need some input -
Added 2020-03-07 07:34:46 +0000 UTCOk, I'm working on drafting a few pages of Folksy Wisdom to get my groove back, for both drawing and working on comics, and I have written a very basic outline for the rest of the story and I -
Hmm, I have it that Julien isn't stupid, you know what I mean?
Since All Hail King Julien a lot has been changed in the comic outline, I wanted to add that canon because Julien is shown to be much more capable and intelligent, and that fits into my headcanon that he essentially 'acts' stupid because people already have preconceived notions of him outside of Madagascar.
In this coming part he expresses excitement at using the lov-u-lator and wants to know Kowalski's process, how does it work? What factors even lead to finding the perfect partner based on DNA? That's nutso!
I mean, I think he would know and retain the basic scientific method, he went to school, knows how to read and write, and had Timo as a friend back home, he has to have retained some of that knowledge, whether he realizes it or not.
And he's been shown to enjoy the whole process, making things, how does this work, he just does it in a Julien way. This will be shown in a flashback for the reader!
Kowalski on the other hand- he's more of a numbers guy. He can't read or write, mostly works in chemicals and mathematics, and of course, fantasy mad scientist rules.
I guess I want to know if it would be believable, yeah?
And it's also meant to be humorous in this scene for Julien to school Kowalski, only to then revert back to his aloof self, mostly out of habit but also as a way to cope and reel himself back in.
Oh man, this got long! Sorry!
Let me know what you all think!

Thanks you so much! Likewise with your stuff. Its awesome taking Julien on in a new light and setting than most people give him credit for. I can't wait to see your comics and stories progress. I hope to one day at least give you a detailed rundown about how this AU I've been coming up with works. Just VERY hard to stay focused on it. Xp

In the end, it's your narrative and your interpretations of the character that matter, not ours.

2020-03-08 07:12:15 +0000 UTCI know exactly what you mean. I always took it from your recent pieces of work and stories on Julien that he really isn't as 'buffoon-ish' as he was interpretted to be in the films and the Penguins series, especially after AHKJ. Even I went along in my medieval AU that, although still pretty famboyant and quite playful, he can be rather serious and down-to-earth when the situations call for it (he really needs to in my universe). That said, I think your summarization works wonderfully! :D Its also really cute, and shows that how Julien opens up to people he feels close to, setting back the public guise for a change and settle down.
