Far Future Snippets - Contact

And with 21 votes, The Second Circle (2020, Cape Town South Africa) wins the Far Future Snippet vote for February.

Since the talk with Merlin regarding the Second Circle in the Free Time Hub is still locked behind the Research on the Internet option (coming soon to you... eventually), this would mark the debut of the first Second Circle member!

"Gawain?" Merlin repeats, lounging upon the thin leather strips of the riempie settle, legs crossed and hand raised to their chin in thought. Yes, they are mostly certain that is the image that they are now projecting.

The young man — no, boy... in this age, fifteen is still considered a child, an adolescent — uncomfortably shuffles his takkies-clad feet in front of him, not quite meeting the mage's gaze. Ah yes, this is the age where human boys tended to be most randy.

Merlin did wonder what exactly they looked like right now. Yet time was of the essence, vitality in far too great a dearth of supply, to waste the energy peeping through the other's gaze for something so mundane as that.

"Yah, you know it's just a vibe, ne? Like what I’ve been feeling in my dreams," Anwar replies, lightly running his hands across the top of his short, coily hair. They shift through their recently acquired knowledge. 'Taper fade' the mind of one of their recent meals supplies the name of that particular hairstyle. "So, I’ve been meeting up with him when I can, just to have a talk, but the guy seems pretty busy..."

But Merlin knew that already. Had previously shadowed Anwar towards his secret tryst... alas, to only be interrupted. Forced to double back upon that unfortunate fire within their temporary home base.

Bad timing, that.

Or perhaps... good timing? Depending upon one's perspective and the suspicions beginning to build at the back of their mind. Kay had always said that they were far too mistrustful, too cynical, filled with doubts and skepticism when it came to the nature of man, but in the end Kay had superseded them in sheer pessimism.

"Have you spoken to him about us? Or perhaps bring him back here for a chat?" Merlin lightly suggests as the weight of dire time and emergency presses down upon them all.

"It’s not easy to bring up things like this without sounding completely crazy!" Anwar protests, finally glancing up. Eyes briefly catch Merlin's gaze before dropping to the floor once more. Blushing, the mage hazards to guess, even if his dark skin fails to betray him.

"But apparently, I'm the second strange one he’s come across, talking about all this kak," the boy continues. Finally something new.

Oh. Now that is interesting, indeed.
