With 23% of the vote, a POV from the Rival Circle has won this month's Far Future Snippet vote. No ominous foreshadowing here or anything.

The spell reverberates all around, a rising cacophony of sound and light that obscures the gentle ripples that she had been following. Footprints in the sand are washed away in a sudden rogue wave.

If she'd bothered to form ears this time, she would've been clutching at them.

Avalon interfering once again. Even before the Veil has fallen. Even before the blood covenants went into effect. Hasty. Heedless. Half-witted. A strike that cuts off one's own foot as easily as it does the enemy's.

Yet what else can be expected? The Isle of the Forbidden Apple had been far too human for far too long. Even its stint submerged within the waters of Annwyn hadn't been enough to fully scour the taint away from those weak-blooded.

Even if there's only one remaining caught within the eternal dream who can truly still be called human. The one who was never meant to be human at all.

But well, enough. If this is the game that they want to play—that she wanted to play, as the source of this obscuration is all too evident—then ▇▇▇ is all too eager to join in the ribaldry of this game.

The dire stakes make it all too delicious.

And there is one who is more than adept at taking advantage of the shadows this supposed spell of protection has cast. Untrustworthy. Unstable. Unrelenting. In the end, they merely use each other. But, yes, indeed, this will do.

And she shall bide her time. In the forest, ever waiting.
