Hard at work!

I'm jumping into the year with some serious skill refinement sessions. I want to get better at my craft, in 3D but definitely in 2D as well. I need to face my weaknesses and improve. (Also, check out the sweet little logo you guys helped me create~)

I'm devoting a lot more time each week to developing my skills and working on commissions. Each week I'll be focusing on a different part of the body. Trying to apply the concepts I learn to different species to try and broaden my understanding of various anatomies. This all crosses into 3D as well, naturally, so by honing my 2D understanding of anatomy I'll be able to easily transfer that knowledge to 3D.

Down the road, once I become better, I am planning to start doing full character sketches that I'm aiming won't take any longer than 10 minutes each to complete. I often see artists do these for pretty cheap. $1, $5, etc. Perhaps I can offer my patrons free sketches?

Comments, questions? Got other ideas totally unrelated to this post or want to address another post? I wanna hear from ya! Comment below with something constructive and I'll throw you into a raffle for a free sketch of one character, no background, at the same level of detail as those hands/paws above. There will be 1 winner. You've got until Jan 12 @ 11:59pm to comment!

Cheers!

I was going to do the arm/leg as a whole when I got to them. Elbows and knees are a bit strange in shape I would have to say, so definitely gonna nail those down better.

I love the second set, how you've explored an anthro hand with fingerpads, and how they're stubbier like paws. Of all the body parts you plan to practice, have you thought about elbows and knees?

Thanks for the critique! :D I was using my own hand as a reference for that particular one. I do recall that my hand was turned a bit more than the pose you provided. Definitely need more practice nonetheless!

Dang, those are some nice looking hands/paws! Aside from the slightly oversized thumb (which you helpfully pointed out :p) the only real criticism I can come up with is that the index finger on the right hand looks to be bent a bit too much and the thumb seems a bit too short. I tried to replicate the pose and this is the closest I could manage (hope this helps!): https://imgur.com/a/xkvl8
