Tutorial 48 - Bounce Light
Added 2016-02-18 10:24:40 +0000 UTCBounce light generally effects the color we see in shadows, both form and cast. It's quite noticeable underneath the chin of a person wearing a brightly coloured sweater, for example. There is an observable color shift on the skin surface.
It's much more subtle in other places but we can be fairly sure, it's almost everywhere as there are few places in the world were objects don't effect each other. Space perhaps, maybe on the moon!
As artists, we can exaggerate the bounce light effect, making it more visible to our images. Our paintings will appear more believable, if less "real" for using some artistic license.
Experiment with bounce light. If used properly, it can raise our work to another level.

2016-02-19 01:16:56 +0000 UTCI think another important point about bounce light you touched on is that it makes it seem like these objects now exist in the same space. Rather than just appearing to be photoshopped in or cut and pasted next to each other. It can be a subtle touch to connect the objects and the environment.
