His gimmick/style before the one that made him famous was that he is a noble named Hunter Hearst Helmsley. (This is where the three "H" for Triple H come from.) He was like a blue blood, high class, snotty royal. Pedigree can mean prestige, class or family tree / bloodline. So it is a fitting name for a move of character like that. Like: "I defeat you with my Pedigree/Class/Status/Bloodline/..."
