Devlog 40

-What's new

-Secret route/Wendigo cabin stuff is caught up for now. The secret route will continue after the theater.

-Theater work is begun. Right now, there are four outcomes for the alexandria route based on if you tied up veleno + valarie or left them untied. I am scripting these events for their outcomes. So far, both ghost hunters being tied up is what's implemented. I am currently working on the outcome of leaving only veleno tied up, then just valarie untied, then both untied...

-Lily is mostly implemented. There is one portion of her gallery you still cannot unlock that I need to event in. She changes throughout the night, so do please check in with her frequently. Depending on your route, there is also a gameover with her you need to unlock at one certain point to finish out your gallery (though, I don't recommend hunting to finish the gallery until the final release...) She has her shop, discounts, the ability to tie her up in one portion, and some more stuff.

-What's coming?

-I can't say any of this for sure, but I would like to finish the struggle minigame art. It's been too long and i am over complicating it.

-More theater work

-Probably not coming in the next build, but after the theater, the tunnels/silo. This section may be developed quick because one of the rooms is already finished, leaving mostly just the silo to be expanded on. After this will come the observatory, and finally the library. I am planning an Alexandria boss fight of sorts in the library depending on your route.

Escape From Visgrant Manor is not meant to be a "casual" game. This was admittedly a bit of a poor decision seeing as most people prefer to play with... one hand... But i'm still happy it's a little more serious than some other games. One thing I wonder is if you guys enjoy the obscureness of the gallery. You, the average player, really may never have it completed. At least, not without a guide, which i would endorse and or help work on once its finished, however, it still remains true that there are plenty of miss-able things in the game. Do you care? Do you like this? Truth be told, I don't care what you think, I'd argue it's objectively better to have a game with so much depth you constantly find new things. I think there will be plenty of players who see that blanked out space for the final character, and upon finally stumbling upon the mountain man will feel that they truly adventured. It's a high I want everyone to have the opportunity of having, where the more you look the more you uncover, but the less involved you are the easier it is to just take at face value. I'm just curious how people are reacting to these mechanics. The story itself is quite dumbed down (because I am a poor story teller, though I will improve) However the lore is certainly there, just not front and center. You can find out a fair bit through witika village, all the books in the game, reises guesses, and so on and so forth. Again, I want it to be an enjoyable WORLD. An actual lived in world with interesting stories and locations, though if you're just here for the sexy sexy, it's all there for you too.
