Devlog 38

-What's new?

-Upper left hall room 1 is done. This contains a password for a previous area. The reward, when combined with the reward from the servants quarters allows entry to the theater.

-Servants quarters is done. The puzzle is up and running. May add more interaction with objects just for fun detail.

-Detective sequence is completed for now. There were be more consequences based on how you handled it inside of the theater.

-Upstairs ambiance. Made more sounds for the upstairs room. As you progress, sadly, the manor (in my opinion, and with what i'm trying to do) becomes less homely and safe feeling. The upstairs is supposed to be the first time you realize this, with the candles and torches all being blue now rather than a warm red/orange. The rooms will probably mostly have the same ambiance, sounding a bit like the outsides cold wind.

-What's next?

-The theater. I should start by implementing what the puzzle is going to be before adding route variations, but by now, the routes are indeed varied. It'll only be more tedious from here to add main locations since they'll all be more different. The theater puzzle is luckily going to be quite simple, just different interactions based on your team.

-Closing thoughts

Technically, I had planned to release the third build when the time came to arrive in the theater. I don't really plan to release the next build now, I think I can push through and add more game for the next build. There are still a lot of unfinished things I want ready by the time I release another build, like Sam's art and Witika village. I don't really feel like a sizable enough chunk is ready for a whole build, really only being the interactions in and around the pool room, after that, then two easy puzzle rooms. I'd be much more satisfied with finishing the theater and so on for the next one. Speaking of, after the theater is the tunnels and then observatory. There is only really one map to make for these, since the tunnels and observatory are done, only one room in the following is incomplete. Should be easier going from here.
