Arriving in Skellige (Page 12)

I found a ship that will take me to Skellige. The captain was a sorry excuse for a man, though. After a week on the water, I can see the shores of Ard Skellige. Clan An Craite owns this isle, apparently. I've been wondering who Gaunter wants me to take care of on Ard Skellige. These lands are filled with great warriors and history. Soon, the ship dock,s and I make my way off and to the local tavern. Men are brawling outside for money. I gotta say, the energy here is quite lively.

I enter the tavern and see a big fire in the center of the room surrounded by tables. They're roasting a big boar. There seems to be a big party going on right now. Soon I hear a familiar voice call out to me. "Cera! Over here!" I look towards the voice and see Gaunter. He is sitting with some merchants I came with on the boat.

How they got here before me is strange, I got off the ship before them. "I guess you beat me here, Gaunter." I'm not surprised. I would've used my power if I knew where I was going. I can't teleport to somewhere I haven't seen or been to before. I'm too afraid to do long-distance teleports with no information.

I could land somewhere I'm unfamiliar with. "I would've brought you myself. However, I figured you would best learn of the history on a trip here by yourself." I did learn a lot about Skellige on my trip here. Now I know most of the major places. So it was a good idea.

He waves me over, and I sit at the table as he sends the other merchants away. "We should get down to business. The man you are after is named Solveig. A rapist and thief. He's actually here on Ard Skellige. He has a lot of bandit followers, but I know you can handle them. It would be wise if you use your full capabilities to make this go much faster." I have a feeling it won't be as simple as he's making it out to be.

I want more information than that. Vesemir and Geralt hammered that information is key. "Can I know more about him?" I won't lie, I miss my friends already. Hopefully, I'm prepared. I've never killed another man before.

He smiles in a way that many would consider polite and well-mannered. "He is rather young and is in good shape. So you aren't going after an old man. Just so you know, there are 11 more targets after this. Each one will be harder than the last. This journey will take you and me a while to complete." Wow, 11 more... I'm betting they're all over too. Well, it's not like I have many choices.

I nod for him to continue with information about the target. "He stays at the northernmost part of the island. Held up in an old fort with a lighthouse. I would suggest you check if your gear is in order. I'll meet you there when you confront Solveig. I want words with him." As soon as he says that, he gets up and leaves. I'm wise enough not to try and stop him. I should rest tonight and make my way there tomorrow. I ask the innkeeper how much a room is, and he told me Gaunter already paid for one. I head to it and hit the sack.

~~~(POV Yen)~~~

I've been up day after day looking for Cera's magical signature. I can't believe I lost him like that... He was right in front of me... Then he was gone. Geralt is worried that I'm overworking myself. I don't care right now. All I want is to find him. That demon can't be trusted.

I hear footsteps approach and see Geralt and Vesemir. "I get that you're looking for him, but maybe it's time to try something different." I don't agree with Vesemirs words. I'm not in the mood to hear this right now either.

Geralt walks up behind me and puts his hand on my shoulder. In an attempt to comfort me. "I'll find him, even if I have to die." I inform them both of my intentions. Cera is a son to me, and I really am prepared to die for him. I will not let any harm come to my Cera.

I watch as Vesemir and Geralt exchange looks. "Well, I don't blame you for acting like this... Ciri wants to look for Cera with Geralt. Maybe if we split up, we can find him..." Vesemir is trying to bring ideas to the situation, but I'm just not in the mood to hear it. I really don't care what they do.

Just make sure not to get in my way. "I think it's time I take Ciri on the path anyway. Her training is good enough for her to come with me." Geralt has been planning this for a while now. He has a reason to do it now. I'm sure Ciri would be happy if not for the current predicament.

I'll need to ask for help from all my oldest friends. I can search the whole world by myself. "Good luck on your journey. I'll be searching the obvious places where he might've taken Cera. Splitting up does sound like a good idea." I decide to get out of my snappy attitude. It's not their fault. It's mine.

I quit casting magic and turn to them and say one last thing. "This may be the last time we speak for a while. My sole focus will be finding Cera." I make my way out of the room as they nod in agreement. I head to my bedroom. I think this is the first time I'm going to sleep in 9 days. Geez, Cera, what have you done to me...

~~~(POV Ciri)~~~

I will find you, Cera... I promise. I finish packing my things and make my way out to the main courtyard, where Geralt is waiting for me.  I walk up to him and ask him an important question. "Where are we heading first?" I have every confidence that we can find him if Geralt is tracking him. I hope that I find him before he does anything stupid. I'm happy about one thing, though. I can finally use my powers.

I know that this will raise the odds of us finding him. I'm catching on pretty quickly too. "If we need information. Then the best place to go is Novigrad. They are the biggest city around and sell all the information you can think of." So Novigrad, huh... Cera always wanted to see that place.

I guess he will see lots of places now. "Do you think that he's okay?" This whole situation has made me a little weak in my heart. I'm also planning to separate from Geralt in a few years. I feel like he is constantly holding my hand. If we can't find Cera by then. I'll start looking for him myself. They did say it would be better to split up. That's what I'm going to do.

[Big time skip coming next chapter. I want to get the story rolling, but I can't do that if Cera is still a kid. This next one will be the last big one and will occur at the beginning of Witcher 3. It will have the same general story. I'll just fit in Cera where I need to.]
