10th birthday! (Part 2) (Page 9)

I wake up to the early morning sun of the spring season. Yesterday was the best day of my life! I'm also excited about today since it's the day of the party. I hope it will be the best one yet! I can't wait to see Yen. The last time she was here was a few weeks ago. She only comes by to fix my shields. I don't know what I'd do without her.

I get up from the bed and head downstairs to see everyone. Everyone made it except Eskal and Lambert. Yen is here too. I didn't think she would be here so early. I walk over to her and give her a big hug. I'm still smaller than her. I'm catching up, though.

She hugs me back and looks at me with a big smile. "I can't believe four years have gone by so quickly! It seems just like yesterday I brought you to Kaer Morhen..." She seems like she is in a better mood since the last time I saw her.

I wonder if she and Geralt's relationship is better now. "So how was everything in Vizima, Yen? Last time you said the war was going to intensify." She is the consultant to The Emperor of Nilfgaard. She doesn't have that much time to visit because of her responsibilities.

Add that to her problems with Geralt, and I hardly see her. "Now, why would a 10-year-old want to find that out, huh?" Her voice is sweet when she asks that. I want to know more about what she does.

She usually keeps that kind of stuff hidden from me. "You never talk about your job, and you don't spend that much time around here anymore. I want to know how you're doing." She has a look that my mother used to give me.

~~~(POV Yennefer)~~~

You hold my heart in a tight grip Cera... I don't know what I'd do if you died or disappeared... I hear others approaching us.

It seems it's time to talk to Vesemir and Geralt about what I plan to do. "Can you go play with Ciri for a while, Cera? I need to talk to Vesemir and Geralt." He gives a look of understanding as he heads off to play with Ciri outside.

The two men approach me, and I can see they are unhappy. "I hope you know what you're doing, Yen. This is going to hurt both of them greatly," Vesemir makes it a point to tell the bad. I don't want to separate the two.

Cera grows more dangerous by the day, though. He can't stay here. "You don't think I know that? This is the only option right now. When Ciri's power manifests, I'll have to do the same thing for her. Cera is just too far ahead right now." My mood fouls the more I think about it.

Vesemir releases a sigh, and I cross my arms in victory. "Well, it's not like your wrong Yen. I only fear for the future." I need to deal with another problem.

I look at Geralt. "I was hoping we could talk later? Before the party. I want to clear the air between us." Our relationship is pretty rocky at this point.

Geralt is a patient man, and I'm a patient woman. Time has passed, and it's time that we made up. "Sure, Yen. I'm glad we're deciding to talk instead of ignoring." I admit that irks me more than I care to admit. I have not been cooperative, though, so I can't say anything.

~~~(POV Cera)~~~

Ciri and I are walking on our favorite trail near Kaer Morhen. After a while, we reach the cliffside looking over the lake as the morning sun is still rising. We slow down and sit as we look out to the landscape.

Soon the silence breaks with a question. "So now that you are getting better at magic, do you think you can teach me? Maybe it will help bring out my powers too." Ciri has been giving it her all in regards to growing stronger. She just hasn't gotten a breakthrough yet.

The training we have done over the years has really brought us closer together. Now that we have confessed to each other, it's a little tense. Not a bad one, though, just a weird one."Yeah, I'm still bad at it, though. I only learned a couple of things. It's hard to control the Elder Blood to perform normal magic. Elven magic is easier, though." She gives a big white smile as I answer her.

She scoots closer and stares into my eyes. "I love that about you, Cera. You're always trying to help others even if it's a burden to you." She makes sure our eye contact doesn't break as I turn my eyes in bashfulness.

I don't know how to respond to that, so the first thing that comes to mind is the only thing I can think of saying. "Thanks, I got that from my Mother. She was always like this with me." She frowns slightly at my response.

I guess it wasn't what she wanted to hear. "What do you love about me?" I get it now. Man, I need to work on picking up hints. I think fast.

It wasn't hard to find something I love, though. "I love how you stand up for yourself and others. I also fancy your beautiful eyes. They enrapture me every time I see them..." My voice is slow-paced and focused on her. She blushes and looks away from me. Guess I did a better job at that than she did to me.

~~~(POV Ciri)~~~

His words make me feel so strange. Light and jumpy on the inside. It's so hard to explain..."You make me feel funny when you say things like that, Cera..." I give him a light slug on his shoulder.

I wouldn't know what to do if you weren't in my life Cera. You make me feel so special. "You make me feel funny too. I guess this is what Yen meant when you could feel love for another person." I blush hard after that little comment. He doesn't even know what he does to me.

The little sneak has found a huge place in my mind and heart. "How do you always know what to say, Cera?" I want these reactions from Cera, not the other way around.

He looks out into the landscape. "Yen always told me to say what comes from my heart. If you really do love someone. It isn't hard to find things to love." I need to make sure that he only has eyes for me. With a mind and mouth like that, he will get any woman to fall for him.

I take this opportunity to approach him quickly. I'm now shoulder to shoulder with him.

I give him a look that says everything I intend to do right now. "Consider this your birthday present from me. Close your eyes."I give him a gentle kiss as our eyes close. After a long 10 seconds, I pull away. I feel like my head is dizzy, and my lips are swollen. I notice a mischievous look on his face. Before I realize it, he has my lips captured again. The kiss started like the ones we've had so far.  He leans his head to the side, and he mimics. He slowly moves his lips, and I follow him unconsciously.

I enjoy this amazing new sensation more than I should. It's so much better than what I did. He slows down and pulls away. Our eyes are still closed, so we fail to see the green electricity. We're both breathing pretty heavy after that one.

More so me than him. "Where did you learn how to do that?" I'm half excited and half suspicious of him. I know he didn't learn it from another girl because I'm the only one around him.

She smiles as he tilts his head to the side. "I read it in Lara's diary. She was very descriptive of her experiences. Is that weird?" It would be if it were Yen or Geralt that taught him that. So, in my opinion, this is much better.

I scoot closer and lean my body on his. Finding comfort in his warmth. "No, it's not weird. I think that Lara had the right idea." I notice we've been out for a good while.

The rest of the people at Kaer Morhen might start getting suspicious of us if we aren't back yet. "We should head back before everyone comes looking for us." Cera quickly follows, and we make it back to Kaer Morhen before 10:00 am. This day can't get any better.
