I think it’s so funny because I’m talking to you while watching this like you can actually hear me 🤣. So in Cottonwood, the line “I look back in time through a telescope” can totally be poetic, but it’s also just straight up facts.. like, actual astrophysics 🥲. When we observe deep space, the light we see took millions (sometimes billions) of years to reach us, so when we observe deep space, we are observing it as it was millions of years ago.. so we are literally looking back in time through a telescope. Tyler really said, “let me just casually drop existential physics in your emotional ballad.” Gotta love his mind 🥲

In the second verse, he talks about how "most are blown down in the storm, but the wind was tame. You weren't waiting anymore, were you sad or brave?" Basically saying that while most people die not by their own hands, it seems this person chose to die. Whether that's a mental health thing or potentially he got sick and euthanasia is a possibility. Especially with the following line, "No I don't condemn you". Because in the church, ending your life in any way, but more so euthanasia, is seen as wrong. And then in the previous song, he said "nothing was the same right after I went to the funeral". He probably is dealing with a lot of guilt and confusion about whatever happened.

And he has so many more as a teenager and young adult, even into Blurryface, feeling like a horrible person for doubting god. How horrible that the thing that is supposed to be a safe place becomes a place where literal children feel AWFUL about themselves. For him to write that he is dirty and wretched. It is just genuinely so sad, and an indication that something somewhere is not right.

Throughout the Clancy world tour (Josh) Torchbearer handed Clancy his rebel jacket and they marched to DEMA together, but in the final show Clancy couldn’t see him / find him, and walked off with black paint no jacket. I was in that crowd and I screamed my lungs out LMFAO. The arena was in shambles

It feels very like OG twenty one pilots in that way. Kind of catching up to where he's been and how he's feeling separate from this lore they've been writing around for years.
