No Longer Human is a real novel by Osamu Dazai, and Dazai in real life attempted suicide multiple times, often with other women, and he'd end up surviving while they unfortunately did not. So you'll kinda see some real-world influences in the show if you continue to watch it and know some of these other authors, but it doesn't take away from the experience at all if you don't have background knowledge or context.

Tho despite your beef with this anime, I do hope you enjoy this anime. Ik (I hope at least lmao) the beef is meme more or less but if it means anything, this anime is really great imo.
