Now this might sound crazy, but with Charles gone the story kind of normalizes after this if I remember right. Like the occult threat is gone, and now its just normal threats. Lelouch just... changed what side was his.
Lelouch was not "emperor" before that last scene. He probably hadn't even made that many moves. But he managed to gather all the Brittanian Royalty in one spot and mind controlled them. Like at that point he'll be emperor on support alone.
He's still got stuff he wants to accomplish. And apparently Suzaku agrees. (I'm pretty sure they explain it better but we'll see 'xD)
I actually like the end of the episode but I think its spoiled by the first 2/3 hardcore. With a different setup I think it couldve been great. But alas, that isnt the world we live in.
Stick with it, only a few more! Hopefully it backpedals a bit for you and feels a tad better. But overall I do want hear your final thoughts at the end, regardless of good or bad. This has been super interesting to watch as an adult. I certainly understand my feeling about it WAY better now.

Ima be real, I don't think this translation is doing it very good service. It definitely isn't helping lolol. Ive seen clips which make a lot of the "hype" scenes feel way better (like commanding god/the double geass).
Regardless, yeah. This is one of the reason I don't like season 2. This shit is both RUSHED and CONVOLUTED.
Ultimately Charles tried to use this occult stuff to fuse the worlds consciousnesses I think. Which Lelouch was like "naw that ain't living and no one but you wants that". And so he basically requested "God" stop them, and it worked. He commanded the universe itself to put and end to their bullshit, and thank god it did cause I don't think I could take much more of that LOL
Overall, I do actually really conceptually like the angle they went with Marianne. It was unique and she was a villain, right next to Charles. And her thought process for her actions could have be interesting. I think it wouldve been fire if the execution was better or hell... just a little slower.
And I'll agree. C.C. feels really oddly positioned both during and after this. Like I think she's just confused, and chose to forsake her old goals and plans because Charles and Marianne were assholes. And now she just doesn't know what to do. But boy, did I not care either.
As for Suzaku, I think they really just reached an understanding. They basically did before, when Lelouch was asking him to save Nunnally. Now they realized Charles was gone, but the world was still fucked.
But yeah overall, not my favorite.
