Eventhou not many of you tended this months 'Edit Challenge' I'm obviously still here to give you some feedback on your submissions. ð I don't know the reason why only two people ended out joining the fun, but as long as there's just one, it's a success to me. ððŧ
As you might already know, this months challenge was all about my latest PREMIUM EXCLUSIVE set from Athens with Michelle Bjerg. ð
The rules were simple: 'You were all given five free raw-files of mine, from this photoshoot to process the way you felt the most'. ðĪðĪðŧðĨ
So basically you were all given completely opportunities to edit just the way you wanted. ðĪ·ðŧââïļðĨģ Nothing is wrong - everything is absolutely right! ðððŧ
Patreon Supporter Morten Vaupell:

A single submission was send by Morten - but what a submission! ððŧðĪĐ
The first thing I noticed was the tighter cropping and more like a 4:5 aspect ratio, than the original. Interesting take, which works very well because you've removed the lamp on the wall. ðððŧ Let me describe what I mean by that..
On the original photo we had the corner of the daybed in the lower right corner. That was done on purpose by me, but when cropping that part out, the black lamp on the wall disturbs the eye a bit more and it feels more natural to remove it. That's the reason which I didn't remove it on my photo - because I kept the corner.
Some might say that the photo "tilts", if the lamp wasn't removed, but I think you did the correct thing here Morten, by removing both the corner AND the lamp. ðŠðŧ
About the toning..
I've had a hard time figuring out precisely what you've done to the toning. ð
Since I shot it in brought southern evening light, it was quite golden and warm already, and to me it seems like you've kept the original toning more or less? Or am I wrong? âšïļðĪ·ðŧââïļ

Patreon Supporter Quinzin:

Once again we see some playfull and experimental submissions from you Quinzin! I love it!! ðĪĐððŧ
As I mentioned the last time, it's getting more and more clear to me that you've spend time learning the different tools and workarounds in programs such as Lightroom.
Photo #01 is as far from my original as it can be - and that it totally what this is about!! ðĨģð
Can you explain with a few words, why you ended out with the purple tint and colorscheme? ððĪ·ðŧââïļ It's an interesting take on my photo and the only wish I have for it, was that you've used 'Liquify' in Photoshop, to achieve some slightly more smoother curves. âšïļ
Photo #02 has been cropped a liiiiittle bit I see, but this one you've kept a bit "colder" (especially compared with photo #01 ðĪŠ). It seems like you lighten up the shadows / darker areas a bit, which is noticeable in the dark areas in the city in the background. That works actually very well, if you ask me (and something which I might should have done myself.. ðð)
The third photo is a bit dangerous because you've went for more saturated colours - but when working with either yellow or green tints, it easily fucks up the skintones, making the models look a bit sick.. ð
The idea of brightening up her dress is cool, but then you need to do some basic skinretouch, because it somehow makes the texture in her skin, blow more up = not a thing you want and definately not when working in fashion. ð
ð
I think you should keep the overall toning and the saturation, but I highly recommend you go do some skinretouch on her chest and face. ðððŧ
Photo #04 is pretty casual and similar to my original. I see you've done some "asymmetric cropping", can you explain the thoughts behind this? ððĪ·ðŧââïļ
The last photo, #05, is interesting! ððŧð
You've grained it, desaturated the shadows, paled her skin a bit AND cropped this in an alternative way too. ðĨģ I love the fact that you really try out new stuff on each and every photo. ðððŧ
Again here I would like to hear some thoughts about whats the purpose was, if you would like? ðĪ

Thanks for participating in this fun little game. âšïļ There will be many more in the future, so stay tuned, since the raw-files are timed exclusives for PREMIUM*. (*Afterwards they are only available for Tier 3 supporters)
To all of you who wrote me telling that you were worried of others looking at your submissions; Don't be. âšïļðĪ It's super fine to be totally new in the game and just using this as a practice to get better, due to the feedback. That's what this is all about. âšïļ
NEXT CHALLENGE WILL BEGIN ON SUNDAY THE 3RD OF DECEMBER and consist of photos from my first meeting with the favorite Marie Elisabeth in this shoot.
All submissions shall be send to: mikkel.laumann@gmail.com
Now, let me know in a comment what you think about all the wonderful submissions or maybe get inspired to join for the next round! ðĨģððŧ
