Dev Log 3.7: Expansion

Hello!

Now that I'm devoting even more time to this project (as detailed in my last dev log if you somehow missed it!) I've been able to do a few more admin-esque tasks that I otherwise wouldn't have.

Firstly, I've changed slightly the scene count for the prelude. In previous dev logs, I've said that there will be 12 scenes in the next update, but I've sectioned some of these off and there is now 17. Note that I've not added or removed anything, just changed how I counted (some scenes are now counted as 2, as they contain two separate conversations, rather than 1). For me that's a better way of counting. So right now I'm 5/17 scenes rendered for the next update.

Secondly, I'm going to start giving numbers of renders in each dev log. These numbers naturally will fluctuate depending on the type of scene I'm doing, and some weeks will be more writing heavy, etc. but giving you actual statistics on progress I think is important. Granted, I don't know exactly how long the update will be, but if we assume anywhere between 1500 and 3000 renders (though that it a massive range) you can better gauge roughly the progress I'm making. Right now, I'm at 344 renders for the next update. On a renders per week basis I'd called that below pace generally, but the start of the dev cycles are slower due to the fact that I have to focus on writing so there's less time spend rendering (and also less scenes to have to render). I'm hoping to get up to around 100 renders per week in an ideal world (once pretty much everything's written and I'd focusing solely on rendering) but I don't want to set expectations too high.

Also, for what it's worth, the next update is significantly more story-focused than lewd focused. For those who prioritize 'content', there's only 2 'scenes' in the next update. One main LI, one side LI. Don't worry, though, if you're more into that side of things, because the update after that currently has 9 scenes slated for it (this number might go up or down when the time comes to actually make that update, though). But yeah, the prelude is much heavier on the story/character development side of things that the lewd.

Enjoy the previews attached above! Now that I'm 'full time' working on the game, I'm more than likely going to be able to preview things in every dev log now, because I should be working at a quick enough pace that I'll always have something new to show!

Thanks!

Good question. So far I've got limited experience advertising (I have made a few posts on subreddits before, with decent success) but I'm hesitant to overdo it. For the next update I'll definitely look into other methods of advertising, for sure. Right now my priority is getting a few good updates out hopefully as quick as possible (without compromising quality) and hoping to see some natural growth from that. But I have considered that I probably need to be more active in promoting the game elsewhere to draw attention. Thanks for the advice and support!

What are your plans for advertising the game? If your goal is to go full-time at some point you might need to think about maybe doing some cross promos with other devs for the next update, spamming itch/AVN/lewdgame subreddits, etc. Your AVN is great, so I'd hate to see you fail to reach your goal just because people didn't know about it.
