Dev Log 3.5: Cycle

Hello!

It's been nice getting back into the flow of work this week. I'm not quite back to what I'd consider my most efficient when it comes to setting up scenes for rendering, but progress has been smooth. This has certainly been my most productive week in the dev cycle so far, as a result of having to focus less on writing after getting a lot of scenes done in my week away.

I'm still working on writing here and there, though, so that I don't run out of scenes to work through at any point. Right now I've got more than enough to get rendered, but I always like to get the writing done as early as possible so I know the general size of the update. The writing is also the easiest thing for me, barring any blocks. But with how meticulously I've planned the game out, it's rare that I get stuck on a scene, because I pretty much always know what each scene should contain and what it's building towards, so my writing process generally is pretty smooth.

Attached to this post are some more previews. Hopefully moving forward previews will be on more posts than they aren't. It should hopefully have just been earlier on in the cycle that dev logs were without previews, but that naturally depends on how much work I'm able to do in each week. Back when I used to do monthly-ish dev log over on itch it was obviously a lot easier to end up with a few images to preview with some variety every time. Here, the dev logs are more frequent, and I'm hoping they won't become too repetitive if certain scenes take a long time to work through. (luckily at least for the chapter 4 prelude it's generally a lot more shorter scenes/conversations than major set pieces).

But overall work has been smooth. I'm hoping over the next few weeks to really get back up to the kind of efficiency I was working at towards the end of chapter 3. If I can match that speed, this will easily be the quickest time to produce an update so far, so I'm really targeting this being the shortest turnaround for a new update. How short will it be? That's unfortunately too hard to predict right now. But things are looking good at the moment.

Thank you for your support as always!
