Aesthetics Poll: Daylight or Lamplight?
Added 2024-10-04 14:59:36 +0000 UTCBy far the toughest part of making CGI art is getting the lighting right - even pre-bought locations generally require hours of lighting adjustments and test renders to bring them up to scratch, and each render needs a lot of fiddling with spotlights to highlight the characters and create mood. Most renders then need to go into Photoshop for post-work.
In this poll, I'm interested in your aesthetic preferences. I've made up a little test scene to look at the difference between natural daylight and lamplight, and would like your feedback on which you prefer [I suggest opening up the full images before you judge - they're intended to be viewed full-screen].
DAYLIGHT SCENE π

LAMPLIGHT SCENE π‘
Let me know what you think in the poll below - and if you'd be interested in seeing more of this scenario in the future [MMF bisexual] π

Thanks Xena! And yes, the lighting can sometimes be a nightmare. Always worth it though - it can be the difference between very flat images and rich immersive environments.

2024-10-06 14:55:34 +0000 UTCHe's a touch more nervous about it within the scenario [the guy getting the bj is more inviting π]

2024-10-06 14:54:41 +0000 UTCThat's often my feeling too [I generally don't like the current hyper-realistic vogue for grey/blue filters in films].

2024-10-06 14:53:58 +0000 UTCMe too! MMF is a particular fave of mine - but always a little harder to make :)

2024-10-06 14:52:28 +0000 UTCHave already made some more, and will do a release of the scenario when possible [most likely as a minicomic].

2024-10-06 14:51:58 +0000 UTCYes - I originally preferred the 'middle of the day' scenario, but decided to go with the pure aesthetic value over timing.

2024-10-06 14:51:19 +0000 UTCSince its a library, lamplight looks more immersive.

2024-10-06 09:43:09 +0000 UTCI'm just getting started with DAZ and OH BOY lighting is a lot of work, it's given me an even greater appreciation for how good your art is

2024-10-05 10:33:37 +0000 UTCI feel like lamplight is better. The girl looks sickly pale in daylight, and lamplight gives the overall vibe a more vintage porno look. Also, if this were to be a bi mmf scene, i can imagine Mr Glasses stumbling upon them saying βoh my goodness! How dare you do that hereβ¦ the wrong way. Scooch over and see how a pro does itβ

2024-10-05 04:39:41 +0000 UTCMy vote is for daylight, though both look good! And yes of course, more mmf is always good hehe

2024-10-05 00:13:19 +0000 UTCin general, a bit of red tint to the light is good. Higher temperature light ( more towards the blue ) will make it feel more sterile. But sometimes that can be used as an effect. And it also may come down to what people are used to.

2024-10-04 17:55:17 +0000 UTCBoth are good. I would like to see more MMF scenes in general

2024-10-04 16:45:16 +0000 UTCIn this scene it's daylight for me, I think it comes down to the colours. It lights the backgrounds and the POV character better, however, the performers have much better details in the lamplight. I presume I would like natural in most contexts more, but maybe another sample might be necessary. I presume that is the more work-intensive alternative, so I want to say that they are pretty much neck-to-neck for me. And yes, I would love to see more of this.

2024-10-04 15:43:32 +0000 UTCI thought so too.

2024-10-04 15:12:47 +0000 UTCDepends on mood and location. If this scene in a corner by a window Daylight. If they went do section where Lamplight would be only source light, Lamplight. For the image in question Daylight. I like the idea of sneaking away in the middle of the day. Sure they were caught, but thatβs not a minus.

2024-10-04 15:08:53 +0000 UTCIt's a tough call for me. I prefer the true colors of daylight, but the lamplight seems to capture more detail.
