Photos from our DS9 project.

Some BTS photos from various stages of our project. Ideas on display options etc. The early photos show a lot of the electrical tape on the prop (presumably from the show to block light leaks) we removed that tape and we're able to put gaffer tape on the back which worked well. I still need to do more cleaning on the prop. Goo Gone worked well removing the 30 year old electrical tape residue, but it takes a lot of work. Others have expressed concern about the foam starting a fire. We won't have this thing on too often and we may eventually replace that. The more we have it lit the more the colors fade so we don't plan for that. But a kind of permanent wall fixture that we can turn on and off would be fantastic. Either way, we will update our Patreons with any new and exciting info!!!!!!!!

What a wonderful project! Thank you for sharing these. Forgive me for being off-topic, but I would love to know what the logo is on the back of Mr. Bauman's hoodie is. I can't quite make it out.

John Kott

I wonder how many times Mike came on that thing!

Nick Kerr

Came out amazing! I recommend Brillianize as a cleaner for the surface. It’s a museum grade plastic/smooth surface cleaner. Slightly milder than Novus 1. It’s cheap and you can get it on Amazon.

The finished version looks class 👌🏻

The control panels in Star Trek have always been one of my favorite things about the shows. They're always so bright and beautiful and they look like so much fun to sit in front of and press the buttons. It's one of the simple things that make the show seem so "real". I'm really glad you guys have it and took the time to really make it look like one could sit down in front of it and pilot the Defiant into the wormhole on another mission. Well done!

Despite J’s aversions to it, his contributions on behalf of All Treky culture are ‘I hope’ noted.. He don’t like Trek, his Friends do. Seems like a Good Guy to have around.

Frazzled Doo

Did y'all ever hear back on that TOS film reel?

Amanda B.

Is this what it is..? What I am “feeling”.. Happy? Curious.

So did you just tape the acrylic down in some way where it was cracked? I like leaving it preserved in this way, kind of like when a museum preserves a broken statue by suspending the broken piece where it would actually be. Were the LCARS printed on mylar? Regular paper? I would think they’d just screen print on the acrylic but maybe they cracked a lot on shoots. I don’t think the LEDs would cause a fire but you could probably use a thin sheet of wax paper or some super thin translucent plastic of some kind to help diffuse the light. Can’t wait until the warehouse is a straight up actual museum.

It’s Beautiful.. the design and shape are iconic as’fuck. Now make Space Cop Deuce Gawddammit!!

Two words for next time,, mirror clips

Notorious HDP

1) LOVE how this came out! 2) LOVE the display for the little set photos 3) tip for the future: light weight craft paper for diffusing light (parchment paper, but no tape will ever stick to it) 4) I'm assuming the only way this panel sits flat is because of the breaks? Because it looks like as a solid piece is has a chamfer? Camber? I don't know the word.
