WIP video about Monsanto and Herbicides — Kindly Requesting Feedback!

Hi all!

Would love to hear your feedback and suggestions as we wrap up work on our video about Monsanto (still pretty rough around the edges — especially the 2nd half)

Please let us know your thoughts!

Thank you so much!

The post IARC conclusion that there is a probability the said most commonly used grassy weedkiller was a carcinogen and genotoxin on cells aligns with my sisters cancer.

Monsanto the miscreant company. Was Bayer naive?

I find it a bit weird that in the released version you’re using RT, a russian state propaganda outlet, for news clippings. (The issue isn’t that the footage is used for anything significant, but imho showing RT in this way normalizes them.)

A bit sad on the short IARC explanation, and the lack of absolute vs relative risk notion. A main issue, also linked to old days, was telling something is so safe you can spray your kids or pets with it (here for decades any treatment have been required to be handled with care) or the telling any contact is a problem. Same with attributing cancer cases anecdotes to a cause. Also a bit sad for the conflict of interest omitting that lawyers are more and more actors in this subject as well as ideology. Because in the end, the real question is about real exposure (with safety equipment for users of these products) and what exposure instead, well illustrated at the end. A bit could also be said about some places where farmers don't have those basic safety measures and certainly no lawyers involved as there is not so much money to be made.

Very informative. The audio track has some dynamic inconsistencies. Using my regular headphones, the voices required more volume by the background or effects sounds required less. At the Nitro plant explosion sequence (about 4:11) the bass greatly overpowers the voice ranges. Please increase the voice ranges audio level throughout. By the way, I graduated from Poca high school in West Virginia; Poca is located adjacent to Nitro.

One facet you didn't mention is the Supreme Court's unanimous ruling for Monsanto, and the principle of the arguments made there. It's important context for the story, which might provide a more neutral appearance. I'm certainly revising my thoughts on Monsanto, but it's worth noting that SCOTUS was unanimous, in support of their arguments against Bowman. https://www.oyez.org/cases/2012/11-796

More needs to be done to overcome the complications of conflict of interest! This is throughout the scientific publications, especially (I think) in the medical field.

Great video. Being a big science junkie, I tended to rebuke a lot of the evidence against Monsanto, because most of the science community did. But this video was very thorough, and has me rethinking how I feel about Monsanto and glyphosate. I like that you didn't fearmonger. That you pointed out that most people will likely not suffer consequences because their dose is so low. But I do think, government should create criminal penalties for submitting false safety data or misleading regulators in the way they've done. Civil penalties—they just pay them. But throw an exec or two in jail for a few years, and revoke their ability to serve on a company's board, they'll change their actions.
