⚔️SCENARIO⚔️: 2007, Baghdad, Iraq. You are a CIA Special Operations Group officer working on an overall human intelligence mission when JSOC (Joint Special Operations Command) reaches out for help to canvas the city of Baghdad for the sniper nicknamed “Juba”.  JSOC intel suspects that he is operating west of the Green Zone trying to pick off targets between the BIA (Airport) and the US embassy. Due to the time constraint and needing to cover a large amount of rooftops, JSOC sniper elements are stretched thin, and are split onto separate rooftops to:
1, observe/identify targets and
2, provide overwatch for US forces on ground searching.
Some JSOC shooters are forced to work solo and you expect a high possibility to be on your own in the next 72 hour + operations.

Options:

1, AI AE Mk I (Suppressed) + MP5A3

2, SCAR 17 + Nightforce 1-8x ATACR

AI and MP5 for me. I feel the scope on the AI will be better for observation and identification than the 1-8 on the scar. You didn’t say what scope but given its 2007 I’m expecting an S&B PMII 5-25 (assuming the CIA can match the kit of a British squaddie but worst case jt should at least be a 12x S&B). If I need to use the platform I think the suppressed AI is better in my opinion for precision distance work I except to need, whilst doing something to conceal my position. Over the 72hrs I would expect to need to relocate. The mp5 provides a good option in a built up area for close defence. With good automatic short range capability from a relatively light cartridge, that twinned with the AI’s high effect on target per shot should mean I can carry a decent volume of personal defence rounds whilst maintaining a strong long distance capability. Finally and probably most importantly the scar 17 looks like a good package, but I have never used it. On the other hand I regularly shoot precision bolt action rifles including the AI AWM AI L96 out to 1200 yrds and I am comfortable with the MP5. So when confronted with a tough choice I think for for the platform you are most comfortable with.

I say #1
