patreon

I want your thoughts for where to go from here!

Hey all! So I'm at a bit of a crossroads with the patreon that I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on, that is whether to stay as per creation or switch to monthly.

Now here's been a lot of discussion around the pros and cons of creation vs monthly amongst the TTRPG creators who also use patreon and strong arguments are made for both side. My conclusion from these discussions is that I want to take it to you all for your thoughts on what you prefer?

I originally chose to go per creation as I was balancing quite a few things in my day to day life and couldn't be sure how much content I would be able to make. However, I am now able to confidently produce 3 to 4 map packs per month, which has lead me to this path of thinking.

One freeing element of the monthly system is that it is a bit more flexible to allow for bonus pieces of novelty content that don't fit the description of the current release structure. Smaller individual buildings, maps too large for a functional animated version, and map tiles just to name a few. Now these wouldn't take over from the 'standard releases', but would fit around the current 3 - 4 standard map packs.

Another item that has me thinking that monthly may be a good path forwards is that there seem to be a fair number of patrons who prefer the monthly method of support as it makes it more predictable for cash flow for everyone.

Whilst this is my train of thought I wanted to get your opinions also, so if you have time to cast a vote below I would greatly appreciate it, or DM me if you have any questions, or throw down a comment below if you think it would benefit from group discussion!

I'm going to delay the first map this month by a couple of days to give proper time for this discussion and make sure there there is no double charging!

I cant thank you all enough for all the support you provide and for making this all possible!

I agree with Jeffery. As long as costs don't increase I don't care. But Im already "eyeing" each of my patreons for dips in quality or work that has already been done to death because I currently support many authors.

That is completely a fair call. My aim here is not to suck money out of people's bank accounts. If you or anyone feel like it's an unreasonable pricing at any point please feel free to let me know!

As long as the costs don't go through the roof, I'm not too fussy. But if I'm suddenly paying a lot more, you'd lose me...
