New Ambience: Red Sky Mine

Greetings Patrons,

As much as I love the pew-pew laser battle aspects of sci-fi, I also love the grittier, hard, humans expanding their reach in a hostile universe side as well. Logistics, resource management, and problem solving may not sell a lot of toys, but they make stories of future humans, or even aliens, more relatable.

That's not to say that this track, Red Sky Mine, can't be the backdrop of some furious pew-pew laser battles. I like to think of it as a gritty set piece. Teams of miners, xenoarchaeologists, or treasure hunters, going about their chores on a hostile, barren planet. It would be at home in any number of sci-fi settings. It would also work just as well in more modern, terrestrial tales as there's not much in the way of advanced tech sounds.

Musically, this track revolves around treated guitar, and gutteral synth drones. There are some flautando strings serving as halos for the guitar notes, as well as the occasional rumble of an orchestral timpani.

The ambience features various large excavation machines, smaller support units, rocks and wind. There's really nothing here that would be out of place on earth in the current time. And no, diesel engines probably wouldn't run in a low oxygen atmosphere but I won't tell if you won't.

As this track is in Patreon sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed version (live on the site next week), as well as ambience-only and music-only version here. Additionally, I created 2 'No Machines' versions that feature the general ambience of the site but without the foreground vehicles.
