Greetings Patrons,
I wanted to do another urban combat ambience that was from a more removed vantage point than City Under Siege, which was very street-level. I imagined standing on a rooftop somewhere, watching a city being shelled from a distance.
If you follow me on Twitter (@tabletopaudio) you may remember that I attended a rooftop 4th of July party in an industrial section of Brooklyn. It had a perfect view across the East River of the lavish Manhattan fireworks display. Naturally, I brought along a field recorder hoping to get some fireworks sounds. However, as I was setting levels on the recorder I noticed that the sky was filled with helicopters. No doubt with well-healed people looking for the best seats in the house. I remember saying to myself "[expletive] This sounds like a bloody war zone!" Followed soon after by (more excitedly) "Heeyyyy, this sounds like a war-zone!"
So, yes, most of this ambience is actual field recording. I did add distant gun-fire, explosions, closer helicopter pass-bys and other sonic spice but I was definitely intrigued by the verisimilitude of the original beds.
The music is ominous is simple low strings and thundering distant drums which, naturally I liked, but I've added a music-free track for those of you who want to add your own music or none at all.
Thank you al for your continuing support.
Best,
Tim
ENnie Awards:
One other thing, Tabletop Audio has been nominated for the 2018 ENnie awards in the "Best Free Product" category. I shouldn't really care about these things but it does help with exposure and potential new patrons and paid projects. So, if you wouldn't mind voting (select '1') under Tabletop Audio for Best Free Product, I would greatly appreciate it. And ask your gaming friends to do the same! Thanks!
