After our unusually balmy December, the weather gods finally decided to get with the program and lower the temperature - drastically. I was out of town last weekend with my family, about 2 hours outside of NYC, and couldn't resist bringing my small recording rig with me to see if I could capture some nature recordings.
I got up around 7am and trudged out into the woods and down to a small pond surrounded by reeds. The wind was blowing pretty steadily and my un-gloved hands were not happy, but I managed to get some lovely desolate winter ambiences that made it (mostly unedited) into this track. I also recorded some nice trudging footsteps-on-frozen-ground that I'll add to my library, you'll probably hear them at some point. For this track,
Winter Woods
, I added the gentle meditative harp chords because I felt it further rooted the scene in that wild peacefulness that I love about winter.
