I think most people see Louis as good because in comparison to all the vampires we see he’s the closest to human morality, and I suppose his toxic traits don’t harm others as much as some of the other characters’ toxic traits

Hearing you guys say that Louis is too kind or that he's nice is very interesting to me, because is he really? I love Louis, he's very dear to me as a character, but he's really not a good guy by any standards.
He has a guilty conscience, and he still has human reservations as a vampire, but is he good? He's in denial about his own toxic traits, he was morally grey as a human, and he's very selfish as a vampire. He didn't even stop to consider the consequences of his actions when he had a little girl be turned into a vampire just to ease his own guilt.
I think the writers could have easily had Louis be the clear-cut good guy with a pure heart to have us root for him even more, but I really love that they chose not to do that.
