Colin’s been one of my faves from the beginning and now he’s big pimpin’ in the Ton. Pen looks *amazing* in green. Loved the reaction as always boys 🩷

2025-04-07 22:47:55 +0000 UTCLuke Newton did such a good job of subtle acting for Colin this season. So much of his characterization is in his facial expressions and body language. I hope the guys pick up on it, sometimes reactors can miss those kinds of things and given that Colin is so introverted, it can affect the way you see his character.

It's so telling that it's only Pen (expressed by Whistledown) and Eloise who see straight through Colin's new persona. Anthony takes him for a drink to congratulate him on it, to which Colin says he's not sure it should cheer him because it doesn't. Makes sense the two who know him best see it, although even Pen thinks he's sailed easily back into the ton, when he feels as uncomfortable being himself as he does. I love Luke's slight uncomfortable look down when Pen says that to Colin in the garden, that little nod to how much he's faking his new bravado. He clearly cares deeply for Pen - heck he calls her Pen in public, which is scandalous in itself, but she's always been Pen, someone in a special category all her own to him. Also, it's great how much Anthony and Kate we get in ep.1 and the song at the ball you recognised was "abcdefu" by GAYLE.

2025-04-07 00:29:43 +0000 UTCI agree that what she says about Colin isn’t exactly cruel, but it is one of the only times we see Penelope abuse her power with the column. She wanted to call him out in front of the whole ton, to take him down a peg and embarrass him. The only other time I can remember her being that petty is when she insulted Cressida’s dresses in season 2, and even then it had more to do with getting on Genevieve’s good side. Insulting Cressida was more the icing on the cake than the goal.

It certainly wasn't nice (especially compared to the start of the ep when she was basically just gassing up everyone in her column) but she was at like .5% of her max savage take-down power. I was so psyched for you guys to witness the new f-boy Colin and your reaction did not disappoint. This first ep is such a fun time. Pen looks GORGEOUS in that dark green dress. I'm obsessed. I wish I had that dress and also an occasion to wear it lol. Sadly, I haven't been invited to any formal balls lately.

Also, you didn’t recognize Francesca because they actually had to switch the actress this season, the previous actress was filming another Netflix show. Francesca wasn’t in the previous seasons very much, but you obviously wouldn’t recognize the new actress.
