Dead By Daylight Halloween Special

Hello everyone,

just as a note the video link is a compressed 720p file, otherwise it would have exceeded the file size. In the archive is the 1080p version. I think this turned out pretty spooky!

The last few days have been incredibly stressful, but I’m happy to finally share this with you. It turned out even longer than I expected, and while there are things I’d still like to polish, especially some of the animation work, I’m overall very satisfied with how it came together.

The quality feels a bit inconsistent in places since the last few poses were a bit rushed, but I didn’t want to delay the release past October 31st. Despite that, I think it all worked out nicely. The only part I wish I had more time for is the transition between the paizuri and the pregnant bedroom scene. I originally planned to include a short sequence of them opening a gate and escaping, but I couldn’t get it done in time. Still, I don’t think it would have changed much in the overall flow.

While working on this project, I realized I really want to focus on improving my lighting. Some scenes didn’t turn out quite the way I wanted, but I tried to make them look as good as possible without spending too much extra time. Fluid physics still need a lot of refinement, but I haven’t been able to dedicate much time to it yet. I’m definitely not satisfied with the current approach. It worked better in Blender’s realtime engine because it had a more stylized, video game like feel. I still enjoy that aesthetic, especially with models that aren’t meant to be hyperrealistic, but with the path trace render engine, it kind of looks out of place imo. I think a big reason for that is the motion blur for some reason not applying to the particles. I need to explore a new approach, ideally something that doesn’t take forever to bake so I can see results more quickly. Trial and error with fluid physics is incredibly time consuming.

As mentioned earlier, I’ll be working on some Tifa animations throughout November and doing my best to get back on schedule. The next video is planned for release on November 9th since I always aim to post on Sundays, and early access will be available one week before as usual. I’m also considering making a sequel featuring the Dead by Daylight characters depending on how popular this one turns out. If not, we can still imagine them safe and happy together.

The 2K and 4K versions will likely be uploaded this weekend, either Saturday or Sunday. This project ended up being quite long, so the file size might be large, but we’ll see how it goes.
