Important Update: $3 Tier soon to be retired at New Years (December 31st)!
First of all, THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOUR PRICES ARE RAISING, NOR WILL YOU BE FORCED TO SWITCH TIERS!
Basically, I have had the same prices and tiers for a couple years now, and as I have gotten better over the years and with prices of everything being higher, Patreon keeps hounding me to increase the prices of my tiers to stay consistent with the quality of content offered. However, I hate that lol. I never want to increase prices on the people who are supporting me, so I figured I would do something a little different.
The $3 tier is being switched to a legacy tier. For all of you who are supporting me already in the $3 tier, nothing will change for you! The tier will simply be removed from my Patreon page as a potential tier to subscribe to, and all of you in it will be grandfathered in, locking that price in as Legacy supporters for as long as you wish to keep your membership active! This will be a hidden tier exclusive to those who were around way back when!
There is only one downside I have ran into. If you are in the $3 tier and choose to cancel after the tier is unpublished, you will not be able to rejoin the $3 tier. It allows memberships to remain, but doesn't have like a whitelist of all the usernames in it to allow them to rejoin if canceled. I know some of you subscribe and then instantly unsubscribe to disable the autopay feature, and then just manually re-subscribe again when your membership expires, that system will no longer work for the $3 tier, I'm sorry, but I couldn't find a workaround for that.
For how this benefits you all though, this will hopefully increase the quality of work I create to some degree. Having a more consistent subscription base will help remove some of the performance anxiety of thinking my work is trash when subscription numbers dip between renewal periods, and in turn having those confidence swings affect my work. Also, having a slightly higher cost for new subscribers will ideally up my income a smidge, and give me a bit more time to focus on creating content, rather than irl stuff haha
For those of you who have been supporting me for some time and those who are in my $3 tier (as well as those who are in my higher tiers, holy crap I don't have the words I love you guys so much lol), I seriously appreciate you so much!! And I hope this retirement system helps show that appreciation with some exclusive benefits strictly for you! Financial talk always sucks, and I feel super bad about making this decision in some regards, because I want my content as available to as many people as possible, but I've been putting this decision off for like a year now, and I think its time I finally just gotta pull the trigger haha.
TL:DR
The $3 tier will be retired into a legacy tier. If you are in it, you maybe remain in it with no change to you for as long as you stay subscribed. First time or canceled subscribers will not be able to see or subscribe to this tier after December 31st.
