First steps of a commission for Jerome! We quickly decided there was so much here that it had to be a comic page, so here we go. It's the scene from "Way of Kings” after Kaladin’s been strung up in a highstorm, and his bridge crew are shocked to find him alive.

I'm also getting ready for Tolkien Tage this weekend! I'll be taking the watercolours again for the first time in many, many years. Any chance of seeing some of you there?

I’m experimenting with a fun new medium - Shinhan Pass, which are a hybrid between watercolours and gouache. I've made myself a little, not-so-little box to take along.

Yes, it’s absolutely a splendid idea to work with a hybrid of two mediums of which you only master one. I… think?

You can see they crack in the pans like gouache, but when used with a lot of water, they look a lot like watercolour. The lighter colours are fairly opaque and allow some interesting layering. I'm thrilled to try around with them!
