Dev Diaries #1: One week behind.

This section, as I promised, appeared a little later and could start with earlier things, but there was no news from me for a week and I decided to combine the "news weekly" and "developer diaries".

1 - Within a week I've been learning to work with light. This is very important even for a project where light isn't the most important component. Light sometimes determines whether it's pleasant to be in a particular game world or not. Light may set a certain mood (such as for rooms in the "Gallery").

2 - To the elephant in the room. On the images above, two works are presented - a comprehensive plan (But seriously, a sketch is enough for an "art" project, after that fantasy takes over and the meaning of the detailed plan disappears) and the first version of the new location (not as big as it seems at first glance). It was that point where the first problems with geometry and light began (however, it is quite obvious - I didn't often work with closed area and open lighting, combining them together).

3 - In Unrial Engine 4 you can create a landscapes in many ways. UE4 has built-in tools (by which I created the starting location and the Hollow Plateau f.e.) and by modeling a mesh (a model consisting of polygons - for the Church and a new location in the upcoming update). Here I was using dynamic sculpting technique and like a sculptor with his tools I made up all the holes, bends and edges with stylus.

4 - Surprisingly, I almost didn't find bugs in version 0.15a, but some players complained that sometimes it's impossible to make a choice in the dialogue by pressing the buttons one two or three (with Gangrenous). I spent several hours identifying the cause. Since it is not universal (not everyone has it) apparently, the bug is much deeper and associated with the response of various devices, which is certainly higher than my understanding.

That's all for now. Keep working.

Hope that was something.
