September Exclusive: New Feats & Spells for Warcasters

For your September patron exclusive, the vote was split among the many excellent choices but a narrow majority of patrons voted for a new feats and spells to enable gish builds. Surprisingly, I found this a particularly challenging thing to tackle - partly because I'd already put most of my ideas of how a gish should work into the Magus class and partly because the topic was so broad I wasn't sure what to hone in on. That said, I'm particularly happy with the new "[Weapon] of [Elemental]" spells. They remind me a lot of Elder Scrolls games where you can summon magic weapons.

Enjoy!

September Exclusive: New Feats & Spells for Warcasters

Glad you like them and I hope they play well at your table!

Oh man my poll suggestion won out! That is so awesome, and these are better than I imagined they would be! Great stuff Ben, definitely going to allow these in my game, especially for my girlfriend's bladesinger!

I noticed as much! My concern was due to the fact that these spells have increased critical range *and* additional effects beyond that—Bow of Garuda’s anti-reaction or push, Hammer of Titan’s push or knock prone on a crit, etc. The more I think about it though, it’s probably fine! Thanks for these, I’ll definitely be incorporating them into my games!

I increased the critical range to 19-20 because these new spells lack Shadow Blade's advantage to attack rolls in dim light and darkness. It may not be exactly equivalent but I think it's probably fairly close.

I wanted people who picked it up as a feat to get it after those who were able to get it as part of a class (Magus) or subclass (Eldritch Knight) feature. Didn't seem fair that they should get it sooner.

The weapon-conjuring spells presented here are really cool! Mostly in line with Shadow Blade, except the bigger crit ratio—I’m slightly worried about that, it makes these weapons even better than SB which is already an excellent spell. Just a thought!

I absolutely love what's been presented here. As both a gish and a feat junkie, this document scratches both itches perfectly. Warrior-Mage Training is to me at least one of the most valuable (if not essential) feats for building a gish besides Warcaster. On one hand the 11th level requirement seems somewhat arbitrary, but for a feat that offers so much, it's understandable to not allow it too early on.

More Gish love is always nice. I really like the feats, and expanding the weapon spells beyond Shadowblade is a good way to spice up how Gishes can present themselves. Good shit, my dude.

Oooh I love the magic weapons! Summoning a magical bow to rain down hell on enemies is especially something I like..
