The NASA sign is complete! I hung it on the wall to provide an idea of the size. It’s 14.5” by 43”.

This project allowed me to challenge myself in new ways. While painting the world as I see it is my usual creative outlet, this tapped into other skills for creative expression! Cutting the letters out of plywood was challenging and satisfying! It feels good to use a jigsaw and get satisfactory results. I didn’t use my usual acrylics for the colors. It’s house paint and red spray paint.

The exposed screws that hold it all together offer a juxtaposition to the tradition and meaning of the logo itself. NASA is streamlined and cutting edge, while the plywood and screws in this piece are utilitarian in nature!

I’m looking forward to making more projects in this style!
