I took a little field trip to check out the corpse of a dead giant. Once upon a time the Sears, Roebuck and Company would deliver almost every luxury to anyplace in America with a train depot. This one corporation delivered pot bellied stoves and muskrat traps to the West when no one else could.
I've been looking into some historical fashion trends of the Southwest and I can see the influence from the pictures in the catalogue. Not all clothes were ordered from it, however it was the Vogue magazine of it's day. Women would look through the pages and then recreate the various looks that they found.
Now, Sears is a hollow shell. This once great temple of commerce is sad and empty. The structure is a huge part of an even more huge shopping mall. It was interesting to see. Like the bones of a dinosaur.
