Revised Concepts

While I still haven't fleshed out this world completely, creating these concepts has clarified my vision for the project quite a bit. This clarity has tempted me to want to revisit some prior concepts. Let's take a look through them and see what's changed.

Eye Collector - This concept was never finished because I didn't feel it accomplished my vision for it. The newer version ditches the Bloodbourne hat for a more interesting inhuman head. My favorite part of the old version was the strips with eye pendants hanging off the ends but I didn't have an idea for the lower body. The new version builds on the rhythm of the straps with a second layer to create an interesting set of robes. Overall, I'm much more satisfied with this version and it helps establish the style of clothing I've been wanting for scholarly characters in this world.

Nephilim Bust - The progress on the Nephilim was causing me to doubt they were a good idea but I'm not ready to ditch them yet. The new face pushes the second layer of eyes closer to the first in a way that I don't think makes sense anatomically, but I don't think there is any way around that. The more human look to the face broadly brings the concept in line with my vision for them as potentially heroic characters. They need to look weird, but still relatable. I expect their look to continue to evolve, but I'm happy to see progress getting made.

Priest of Remph - Originally, I had envisioned the priests of the Angel of Time to be much more like Buddhist monks, but I've moved on from that idea. Part of the reason is that I don't think the fire headed monks relate visually enough to Remph, but I also have plans for creating a Buddhist-like faction that isn't related to any of the Angels. Having the priests of Remph look similar would be confusing.

Voice of Eistibus - My first pass at a worshiper of Eistibus, Angel of Divination was one of my least favorite concepts. I wanted to make them more regal and reshape the robes to be more realistic. I also think getting the clamshell hood to look natural is going to be a challenge, but I feel like this version gets closer. Seeing them side by side, it feels a bit less like a revision and more an expansion of the original concept which is encouraging. I might end up just making some small revisions to the old one and use them both.

Watcher concepts - I don't think I posted my Angel of Wildflowers concept. It's not getting replaced by the new one, but it's a bit older than the Angel of Scorn on the right. Both are viable Watcher designs and expand the language I plan to use for player characters in this game. This project requires many examples of Player Angels, so I'm trying to create them periodically among all the other world exploration.
