An autistic polyamorous woman has defied stereotypes by barely mentioning either of those characteristics to everyone she encounters, it has been rumoured.
Ffiona Maw, 43, has a formal autism diagnosis and two partners, but has managed to refrain from compulsively disclosing to colleagues, bus drivers and random passers by.
Maw commented: “It’s been a challenge - in that I had to stop communicating entirely. But at least people have stopped interpreting a simple statement of fact as a come on.”
“No, I don’t want a three-way with you and your dull husband.”
“It can be inconvenient not letting people know I’m autistic,” Maw continued. “But at least my co-workers have stopped talking to me really slowly and loudly, like when my Uncle Fred is abroad and thinks he’s speaking the language.”
Maw could be reached for further comment but decided “nah”.
