Chapter 119 - The Luminous Mars

This is the once-in-a-while good fight chapter to actually imagine during TL. So cool.

I managed to survive Upial's onslaught and sheathed my Salamander Sword after finding the chance to rebuild my stance. On my right hand is Thunder Sword and I have nothing equipped in my left hand.

Upial saw this and fired two Flares.

When I repelled the two Flares with Wind Impulse, Upial rushed from behind the Flares.

This is something that my stats won’t allow me to evade regardless of my future sight from Vision. I immediately break away with Kamui but Upial seemed to have read that and was chasing me even more.

I wondered for a moment whether I should apply High Heal or cut of his chase with Kamui but I managed to avoid Upial's attack while hitting myself with Wind like what Misha did yet Upial did not slow down his attack as if he had read even that.

This time, however, I had the time to apply a High Heal on myself as I get pushed back from the Wind.

When I managed to recover from the Kamui’s damage with High Heal...

“Lightning Cloak!”

It's been a long time since I've used Lightning Cloak. The level of Lightning magic has risen considerably since last time so the power should be perfect.

The golden lightning was released against Upial's right arm, and the force from the direct hit of the Lightning Cloak was enough to blow Upial away.

Upial's HP shows less than 200 now and Upial's state is also electrocuted (small). Upial’s magic power and durability are higher than my magic power so it did not cause electrocution (large) state and settled only for electrocution (small).

Even so, I can't let this chance pass. When I slashed at Upial with the Thunder Sword, Upial turned into countless bats and tried to make an emergency evasion but it seems that Upial's right upper body could not turn into a bat because of the electrocution (small).

I slashed that part with my Thunder Sword and was able to cut off Upial's right arm.

The countless bats had turned back into Upial vampire form with his right arm cut off.

“Damn... you... what have you done! Why can’t...I regenerate?"

So he could regenerate if not because of the electrocution state... This is probably not from the effect of accelerated HP recovery but an inherent ability of the vampire race.

Upial's HP was below 120, half of what it should have been. I can't afford to miss my chance from having a leisurely conversation here. If I don't put a stop to him now, I might lose next time.

I rushed hard against Upial who had lost his right arm. Upial, again, became countless bats and made an emergency evasion but I made sure to finish off all of them one by one. Then Upial gave up on running away as bats and reverted back to vampire form.

It seems that each of those countless bats was Upial seeing him with less than 100 HP remaining now. If I don't settle this quickly, his HP will be restored by the accelerated HP recovery.

Upial did not try to approach me. He probably thought that if he approached me, he would fall prey to the Lightning Cloak. Conversely, he may think that he can manage somehow as long as I don't get too close.

This time, he released a Flare at me while fleeing in vampire form. Upial might be trying to retreat completely. The agility value of Upial is overwhelmingly higher and there is nothing I can do if he seriously tries to run away.

I am trying to block the activation of Upial's Flare with Wind magic but I could only weaken the power of the Flare because the opponent's magic power is higher. It seems that even if I can repel his Flare with Wind Impulse, I can't obstruct its activation.

But just weakening the power was enough. I put on Kamui and cut the Flare with the Thunder Sword while approaching Upial to the shortest possible distance.

Then, I put a High Heal on myself before...

“Lightning!"

My body glowed gold and the light pierced Upial. The moment my body glowed gold, Upial's face was dyed with an expression of despair. His face had been red until now but it turned pale. I think that's the original complexion of the vampire I envisioned...

Lightning has a different level of power compared to the previous Lightning Cloak. The amount of MP consumed for it is no joke. The golden light enveloped Upial, and finally, Upial's HP dropped to the single digit and his state had become electrocution (extreme).

Lightning magic is terrifying... If it can be controlled firmly, it can reverse the situation with a single shot no matter how superior the opponent may be.

The freedom of Upial's body, which had been hit by Lightning, had been taken away.

I thrusted Thunder Sword at the fallen Upial's neck before asking.

“What were you doing here? Why were you summoning magic beasts?"

Upial said nothing. However, I can see that Upial's face is covered with despair and fear.

“For the last time. I will ask you one more time, what were you doing here?"

When I asked him again, I can see in his eyes that he was pleading for something but he didn’t say anything. Oh...it was the electrocution (extreme)... He couldn’t say anything and there was no way he can react in any form...

I said toward members of Reimei and genesis.

“Everyone! Come this way while being on the lookout! I used Search on the surroundings and I don't detect anything but I need you to be on maximum alert!"

I didn't look away from Upial. I was going to put an end to him if he went from electrocution (extreme) to electrocution (major).

Demon race is people too. This year, two people from the demon race were scheduled to join the Lister Imperial School's S class... Even then I still had the intention of putting an end to him.

I believe that I'll definitely regret it later if I let this guy live.

The members of Reimei and Genesis came to me, carefully and vigilantly.

I then asked Karen.

“If I kill this guy, will I be charged with any crime? This man seems to be the head of a demon race’s count household. Wouldn't that be a problem between countries?”

“I'm thinking of ending him. Right now he's paralyzed but he'll get over it soon. And his stats are higher than anyone else here including mine.

If I were stronger than this guy, I would have wanted to capture him. I'm strong enough to defeat him the first time but if he took countermeasures I don't know if I can beat him as I did this time.

If anyone disagrees, raise your hand. I won’t blame anyone who raises their hand. It's possible that I'm in a frenzied state right now and I'm not making the right decisions. That's why I want to ask everyone.

I ask again. Raise your hand if you are against me killing this guy.”

None of the members of Reimei and Genesis raised their hands.

“That vampire should definitely be ended. In the Holy Kingdom of Diadora, the damage caused by vampires is particularly high. I never thought these guys were summoning magic beasts...”

Dominic said in a strong tone, and so did Baron.

“Amongst the demon race, vampires are unfriendly towards humans. Not only are they unfriendly, but they also took a hostile stance toward us. I don't think there has ever been a friendly one. I support Mars."

“We must put a stop to this for the sake of the Lister Confederacy and for the... people.”

Karen said as much. Clarice said nothing... looking very somber. Perhaps she is aware of my state of mind...

“All right. Thank you, guys. Can the girls step back, please? I don't want to be seen killing him... Baron and Dominic, I'm sorry, but you're going to have to see through it. There might be cases where the vampire is thought to be dead but actually not."

The girls backed off, Baron and Dominic stayed where they were and I ended Upial.

And my level went up…*1
