July Progress Report!

Welcome to the first time I have posted a progress report solidly before the last few days of the month! It is because I have bitten off more than I can chew!

JULY VIDEO: IN PROGRESS!

So I have been working on this video diligently since last month, but the vast majority of that work has been on the script. Currently, the script is ~4000 words long. To give you a little context for that word count, most of my Unraveled episodes floated around the 2500 word range. I tend to talk pretty quickly and cut out most dead space during the edit, and I'll probably go through it again to trim out any unnecessary bits (there are many), but this means the video will most likely be over 20 minutes long—by far the longest of my scripted videos on my personal channel!

I'm really excited about this script and the video, but I am also REALLY TRYING NOT TO SCREW IT UP. It's a technical video, and I'm double and triple checking my silly definitions in order to make sure it is both funny and accurate, which is a hard edge to walk. As a result, I don't want to rush production on it just to get it out in July! 

Normally, I would be able to start filming this week, but Karen and I have to go away for a wedding. We'll also be spending a couple extra days in NYC so that we can remember what it's like to have viable public transportation in our city and also really soak up that late-July-humid-garbage-scent that permeates the Brooklyn streets I miss so very much.

AUGUST/PROBABLY SEPTEMBER VIDEO: ALSO IN PROGRESS!

I had hoped to have the full script done for the next tech horror video, but again, the many many many words of the other script have used up all my writing time for this month. Karen and I have a reasonable outline for the script done though, so hopefully the writing goes quickly/the filming goes even faster!

OTHER THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED THIS MONTH:

I've done a couple more shoots/recording sessions for things I can't talk about right now, but I promise that they exist!

Wow I didn't need to write this much to just say "Video is taking longer than expected." It's pretty easy to see how I ended up with a 4000 word script, huh? I need to get better at editing while I write. Talk soon.
