Remote News Analysts, Reporters, and Journalists wanted | $85 to $115 per hour

Pareto is looking for experienced News Analysts, Reporters, and Journalists to collaborate with a leading AI lab on a groundbreaking project. The focus is on creating high-fidelity computer-use exercises that capture real journalism workflows—complete with starting context, step-by-step actions, decision points, and final deliverables.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Author realistic tasks: Produce weekly journalism scenarios that reflect real professional work in news gathering, investigative reporting, and editorial production.

• Document comprehensive workflows: Capture starting context, on-screen actions, tool usage, time estimates, and alternative approaches across source research, interview preparation, fact verification, story development, editorial review, multimedia content creation, and publication coordination.

• Create authentic deliverables: Provide real artifacts such as news articles, interview transcripts, research notes, fact-checking documentation, editorial pitches, broadcast scripts, multimedia packages, and source lists.

• Apply quality standards: Self-grade work using provided rubrics and identify common failure patterns.

• Iterate based on feedback: Incorporate QA insights quickly to improve clarity, completeness, and reproducibility.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS 

• 5+ years of experience in Journalism, News Reporting, or a closely related media field

• A published portfolio demonstrating news writing, investigative reporting, or editorial work

• Experience across multiple formats (print, digital, broadcast, multimedia) preferred

• English fluency (native or near-native proficiency)

• Strong technical aptitude—familiarity with content management systems, research databases, and digital publishing tools

• Exceptional written communication and the ability to turn implicit expertise into explicit, step-by-step instructions

• Proficiency with relevant journalism tools, including Google Sheets, Microsoft Word, CMS platforms (WordPress, Arc Publishing), research tools (LexisNexis, public records databases), and collaboration platforms

TIME COMMITMENT CALIBRATION: 

• Paid 1-hour trial within first week of acceptance.

• Pilot: 1-week paid pilot; successful completion leads to being invited to the official project, which will last approximately 2 months.

• Ongoing target: ~10–20 hours/week during pilot; 2-month contract in case of project success.

• Top performers during the 2-month official project will be invited to potential future AI Training projects.

COMPENSATION AND CONTRACT 

• Hourly rate: $85 – $115 / hour

• Employment type: At-will contractor to Pareto

• Geographic flexibility: Remote work from anywhere; compensation adjusted by location while maintaining competitiveness

• VISA : Pareto CANNOT support H1-B or STEM OPT sponsorship (NOTE- this condition applies to US-based candidates only)
